Black ships ...
The Order of Akan really would like to have them.
Too bad the Order of Akan has dissapeared.
And since it's a story element, it's up to the devs when they'll come back.

And also, all the dark colors are avoided to remove advantages over other players because of the color. (black is harder to see in space then say, neon pink)
yes but i can see stragety used in that sense, a two man squad, one is neon pink and the other black, the neon pink one distracts the enemy with his/her bright colors while the one in black sneaks up and destroys the enemy
plus even though black is hard to see, the big red box that comes around the enemy is very incognito also.... while it would be an advantage, only untill the enemy press 'x' or the assigned key for that. or even 'b'
and black rocks

if the Serco Dominions get carriers, sure, go 'head...
Hot pink is a great color. Several of the mid level guardians have trouble hitting ships painted that color. Several of us have postulated that the color is so horrible on a Warthog that the guardians can't bear to look at it to target it properly.
I don't see black ships conveying any great advantage. If you look in the lower left and right hand corners of your HUD you will find the Radar Advanced Tracking Systems™ (or RATS™ for short). All ships will be visable upon the RATS™ device regardless of the chosen livery. If a ship is visable on RATS™, then it can be targeted. If it can be targeted, it has little to no advantage as it can then be blasted in to space dust.
plus AFAIK you cant make the entire ship a colour unless its a vulture or something, even then the vulture has little black squares on it.
Have you felt the call of The Order?
Black isn't an advantage in a 1on1 due to the targeting box, but it matters a lot when there are 2+ people against you. Yes the radar shows red dots, but it gives very little information about how far away they are. If you've got 5 people attacking you and they're all within 1km then the radar isn't useful at all.
If you have got 5 people attacking you, and your name is not Eldrad, you are screwed anyway.
yes and as i stated, black(and really how far is grey from black?) and bright colors would be nice to have because it would add another lvl of stragety to the Group PVP aspect of this game. IE a distractor and one to sneak up.. i mean it wound not be like only a select few could choose the color. Everyone would try to use that tactic and as we have seen in the past players have found ways around it like they did during the uber flag def bots.

Black should be left out for story purposes. The Order of Akan is a fixture of the game's story. Their trademark is obsidian ships. Thus, having a bunch of players flying around claiming to be part of the order mucks up Guild Software's storyline.
andreas if you've got 9 people helping you you're not screwed.
The only ship that would be close to all black would be the Vulture. All the others are either brown, medium grey, or white.
Okay, okay... no black. How about charcoal grey? (0.o)

/me tries to imagine andreas + 4x pilots vs. Eldrad.
Hmm. Eldy, you up for some sparring? ;)
