Trade Wars 2002
Anybody remember the old text-base BBS game "Trade Wars 2002"? http://www.eisonline.com/TradeWars/ (Obviously they got the date wrong:) It would seem that much of Vendetta was inspired from this game. The reason I bring it up is that it has some very cool features that I would like to see in Vendetta.
1) Perhaps I'm just a n00b, but I haven't seen any *big* ships. I would expect that as the cargo holds and weapon slots increase on higher-level ships, so would the actual ship's size. It would be cool to own a ship so big, that it could not dock with a spaceport, but instead you have to dock a shuttle in your large ship to board a spaceport. At least have some large ships that bots fly, some that would require a whole group to take down.
2) How would you like to own your own spaceport? Make money offline, have your own "The Bar", etc. A place to store your extra ships, and other things. To construct such a thing, a certain amount of several types of trade cargo must be gathered, as well as a whole truckload of money.
3) How do you protect your spaceport and mega-ship while your are logged off? Easy... purchase bots. Same as guardians and other bots, but they are set to protect *your* investments.
All of these features would be for the mega-rich... to show off how much $$$ you have earned. Perhaps some of these features do exist in the game and I just haven't gotten that far yet... I dunno. Let me know what you think.

From what I have heard, this stuff is already planned for the release.
Great mind think alike, apparantly ;)

I hate to burst your bubble but I don't like the idea of making money offline. It tells me that the players are too lazy to log on to do something.
But for sure, capitalships are coming.. and mabie... player owned starbases.

#1 and maybe #2 will be in the first expansion pack, presumably in Q2 2005.
#3 Well, a dev did mention hiring NPC wingmen being a feature -by- release...
And we used to have an NPC capship. It was big. And deadly. They should put it back in sometime. :P

Can anyone tell me what NPC wingman would be like??
Just because, I would think that this feature would pretty much kill the true meaning of the 100% PvP(players only fleet vs. another fleet controlled by players only).

If something like funding the construction of a station would happen (and I'm not convinced it should), at most you might get a return on your investment, and the actual day-to-day operation of the station would be independent. You would serve as a founder/investor, but not actually run the thing.. Hence you get your money back plus a little more for your effort, but no more.
At leas,t that's how I'd look at it.

perhaps rather that making money off a spaceport or whatever, one should have to pay upkeep or maintinance. So you cant just make a bazillion spaceports and keep making more money with each one.
