"warping" time and animation
just an idea but i think it would be cool that maybe instead of just showing up in another sector after warping, that there could be a "warping" process that takes alittle time to get to the other sector.
also a cool thing would be a animation or a cutscene kinda deal wehre it shows you traveling to the sector in "warp speed" or "hyperspace" or whatever this game calls it.
if none of this makes sence just tell me, im a bit tired atm :)

We wanted that but the loading process would make the animation very jerky.
Even now that it's threaded?
can't you just make the warp animation the highest priority..??
That would increase the load time.
I dunno about other folks, but I transition in about 8-10 seconds. I'm quite pleased with that. =>
If it's decided that a 'delay' is appropriate for game purposes, I suppose that would be okay. I like fast, tho. :)

usually the sector is loaded after the transition .. the freelancer animation is very short and seamless but the sector loading time is very short. X2 has a transition animation too that can be toggled, but sector loading is noticeable, and it's not seamless.
i just think that it would add more of a traveling feeling instead of just instagib right to your point.
Whoah, instagib? Are you exploding when you're done warping? :)
