Request for target lock
I do not understand why target lock is not included in the game. I mean, this is not the Civil War, but, what, 3000 years after that?
Also, the HUD target circle is a bit too jumpy.

Hit default "x" key to lock on to a target. There is no jumpiness with any of the HUD elements. Chances are it's your connection speed or framerates. To check your framerates, type /toggleframerate in the chat. If your average framerates are below 30 or so, you may want to consider tweaking your graphics settings to smooth it out.
I am sorry, I did not explain the request well.
I did not mean the target lock per se, ie. the x key, but enemy tracking, that is, you do not need to steer the ship like an A10 tankbuster plane when shooting at an opponent. As long as it is in front of you, or withing an angle, when you shoot, the weapon automatically shoots in the direction of the enemy, calculating the angle to shoot from position, speed of vehicles and direction.

So you're requesting that the current auto-aim be expanded greatly.
No. Then the game would lose the only thing that keeps it above other MMO games - actual skill needed to fight.

Well, if your just shooting a gov issue canon you might not even notice the auto-aim. What you describe does exist it's just a narrow angle for most early level weapons. Some such as the guass/plasma and adv. gatling have a very wide angle of attack and track very well.
^What he said ^
Later weapons have improved auto-aim, but overall, excessive autoaim detracts from the skill involved in combat. The gauss is a little overpowered due to its high autoaim once mounted on agile ships. Once you get better at combat you'll begin to understand the reason it is the way it is.

oh, i see. ok, that answers my question. I just got an upgrade from the government cannon and I have been more succesfull with the bots, but i still did not see much appreciable tracking. But thx for the explanation.
I think what you're describing is exactly what the Advanced Gatling Turret is. You just haven't gotten to the level where you can use it. Keep taking combat missions and keep leveling up. You'll eventually get this weapon, which will automatically track your target within a certain sweeping angle. It's probably my favorite weapon in the game because it makes such a wonderful defensive weapon. I think you'll be happy when you get one. Just hang in there and keep at it.
I miss my advanced Gat :(
NT Terr. Def Warthog + Sunflare + Advanced Gatling Turret = 8-)
Don't worry, it looks like you'll be getting it earlier now. I'm at level 4 combat, light, and heavy right now and both the gatling versions show up as grey in the NT capitol. So I think it'll be available in level 5 or 6 heavy weapons. More likely 6 for the advanced one.
