We can't have levels where you don't get anything. That's really discouraging. Also: The Valk is good and solid, but combined with trigauss, it's overly deadly. I'd make the Gauss a heavy weapon. It's got the power and ease of use that make it comparable in damage per second to a far heavier weapon.

Thanks CT, you rule

I don't think the F-C battery should be taken out! More variety is always a good thing, *provided* that it's balanced. In my humble opinion, the engines and batteries were well balanced before the devs changed the energy consumption. You had several favorite combinations that each had their benefits:
effecient/fast charge: slower top speed, but infinite boost
medium/fast charge: good top speed, very slow drain
heavy/fast charge: maneuverable, fast jumping
heavy/heavy: maneuverable, good for energy weapons
Right now the hands-down uber combination is heavy/fast charge. Maneuverable, excellent top speed, and infinite boost! Once a vet reaches the levels where he has access to this combination, those poor newbs won't stand a prayer in heaven of getting away!
I don't think the FC battery needs to be taken out to fix this... the energy consumption of the engines just needs to be tweaked a little.
As far as the reset: don't worry, it will rock. We will all be back in busses again! We can have huge levelling parties!

Not sure if mentioned previously, but perhaps the engine should have a temperature reading, so when boosting this temperature slowly rises to the "red", at which point you got to let-off for a bit? Also, the higher the speeds, the quicker the temp will rise. Should stop infi-boosting at a full 200 m/s, yet allow lesser engines to get further, and also allow short controlled bursts when used in combat without affecting anything else... This seems to make sense to me to balance out the engines. Kind of like having an old reliable car that don't go quick, but can run all-day, compared to an uber turbo-charged/nitrous'd ultra quick car, that just overheats when you thrash it...
Light Engine - Run for very long busrts at top speed with no heat probs.
Medium Engine - Heat problems during long boosts.
Heavy Engine - Heat probs arise very quickly when boosting.
Efficient Engine - no heat issues at all..
If we ever get a widget port, there could also be improved cooling gizmos...
Getting off-topic, shall I post this in Suggestions?

I do think the infini-boost at top speed needs to be taken out.
However, without infini-boost, I would never get any reading done during trade runs, and that would be bad. So I suggest having a special +turbo ability that lets us boost infinitely, but makes us go at about 140m/s. That way, I can read to aleve the boredom of long distance travel, yet I would have to pay attention if I ever wanted to pick up enough speed to run away from someone.
It's the perfect compromise. We can bind it to "v" where my +turbo bind is now. :D
