Let me repeat this idea.
Ok, what we have right now is, when you use mouse controls, you happen do some mouse looking. I turned 180 Degrees moving my mouse 5cm to the right, but then again, the crosshair represent the direction of the ship and it took like 4 seconds to get to the center.
Now those type of mouse controls are kinda horrible for me especially when I cannot afford a joystick at this time.
What I was asking is, would it be possible to snap mouse movement to the speed of the ships agility?? Example, in a Ragnarok, you move your mouse to your left, and your ship will slowly turn the left instead of mouse looking.
Another feature we could have is mouse gliding. Basically, you have a some kind of a crosshair icon which represents your mouse cursor. When your mouse cursor is in the center, this means your ship is not turning in any direction.. When you move your mouse cursor away from the center of the screen, them your ship start turning depending where the cursor is. Lets say your mouse cursor was moved to the right, your ship would start turning. The further you moved your mouse cursor away from the center, the more your ship would turn. If the mouse cursor was at the edge of the screen then the ship has reached its maximum turn rate.
But sometimes, the deadzone for mouse controls can be a good idea as well.
I thought this would be a good idea to just provide some better controls for the mouse for those w/o a joy.
I hope this is understandable as well.

Use my "Dampers" binds. They will do this for you. You can find them in the Custom Binds thread.
Aye, mouselook mode completely annoys me to no end. Thankfully I can afford myself a joystick. Just a checkbox in the controls panel to switch between the mouselook, mouseglide, and mousesnap(? sounds odd...) would be nice.
hehe the "wobble" and "delay" used to bother me... especially because it was so very different for each ship/engine configuration.
I'm not sure about this: does your ship turn faster when you turn a wide angle, compared to when you turn a small angle? I think I've been doing something silly, like dragging my crosshairs over my target instead of pointing and firing (and there is absolutely no need to do that if the ship accelerates in turning exactly the same no matter what...)

Why are you guys complaining about mouselook? It has to be one of the most useful features in a flight sim ever invented!
It may not seem like much now, but when you are in a dogfight keeping track of where your opponent is at every moment is crucial. The mouselook feature is akin to craning your head around in the canopy to keep track of your target. Most other flight sims I've seen use a series of keys to look in each direction, very unwieldy. The mouselook feature on the other hand is intuitive and simple to use.
I use a joystick at the present but I'm seriously considering going back to mouse controls just so I can have the mouselook feature back. Believe me, in a PvP battle, its value cannot be underestimated.
And for those of you who don't like the mouselook and don't want to dish out the money for a joystick, keyboard only is an option already available that locks the screen in forward view, like in joystick mode. As an experiment try flying around like that for a while and see how long it takes before you wish you had the mouselook feature back.

What you describe as "mouse gliding" is what the game engine originally did. I found it to be the most useless way to control a ship ever, so I created the current scheme (I'd certainly never seen anything like it before except in Quake).
The other thing you describe is what I think Arolte described as "mouse lock". That has some merit I suppose. I don't personally like it but it's worth a shot.
evoli, it uses a closed loop control system to figure out how much torque to apply. So generally speaking if you move your mouse faster, it will turn faster (up to the limit of the ship) and then, probably, overshoot more when you stop moving the mouse. So you just have to point and shoot. If you don't like the overshoot, you can adjust the damper as Roguelazer suggests. (although you certainly can't make the mouse control work fundamentally differently by changing the dampers...)

I agree 100% with Phaserlight, I find mouselook essential during combat, please don't mess with it!
Even I use mouselook, and i'm a hardcore stick pilot. but while turboing for a short escape run, i tap on mouselook and flip my view around to see whats happening behind me, i fi need to i just turn it off to snap back to regular view, or i release the turbo and let my ship come around to where i'm facing before kicking it back off.
Mouselook can exist along with a set of new mouse control ideas what I explained.
To me, I think mouselook doesn't really feel like your flying a ship or so when it comes to turning look view 180 degrees which makes it look like an FPS.

ok, I added a mode that exists when mouselook is off.
The mouse will apply a force to the ship so it feels like you're more directly controlling the ship. Kinda like the old X-Wing game.
It will be in the next update, so try it out when it's there.

awsome
I just hope that other players don't hate this feature.
