I'll bet at least 70% of the 3k complainers don't understand what the "tab" key does yet.
Additionally, travel time is a time-sink. That's part of the point. Take out the 3k limit and essentially you'll be teleporting wherever you want to go damn near instantly. That's not realistic, and it strips the game of any semblance of effort.

"I have to go halfway across the galaxy to deliver these trade goods. But it'll only take me 2 minutes!"
Do what I do while on a trade run.
1.) Type /bind v +turbo.
2.) Point out towards open space.
3.) Press "v."
4.) Read a book until you notice your screen turn green.
Once you notice how little of the book you manage to read by the time you get to 3k you'll notice that it's really not that big of a time sink at all. I usually get about 3 or 4 sentences.
