Ya it's nothing exciting. It would be fun to make the skybox all blindingly glowy - but then again who would see it once the bug is fixed?
Still, it might be fun to have some rare and expensive gasseous cargo to be scooped up in there, if storms were allowed to dump you there. Of course, you'd start taking damage after a short time...

It used to look blindingly glowy. The problem was it looked stupid as you turned around away from the sun, because the huge glow from it would instantly disappear. But aside from that it was pretty awesome. Waylon ended up capping the maximum star size.
I suppose we could launch into a discussion of "How-It-Would-Actually-Be-If-We-Were-REALLY-In-Space", but my past work in special effects has taught me that what's real doesn't necessarily _seem_ realistic...or cool.
Perhaps turning away from the star would result in a less blinding glow, as if there were dust particles being illuminated all around.

This reminds me very, very much of flying through nebulaes in Freelancer and "Tachyon: The Fringe"... still, this idea sounds totally awesome!
