Actually, making the player names interact would be a cool feature. Fex if Icarus was hostile in .. dau or so, We could have a warning displayed when entering one of the nearby sectors, just to sow a bit of confusion :)
And, player names makes it a bit more intimate, which is a good thing in the current game.

A classic from Warcraft II:
-Don't spit into the wind.
What about location-specific briefings? Were I a local chamber of commerce, I'd drop a hyperbeacon to buzz a quick spam to anyone going by.
-Now entering NS1-controlled space. Shoot at us and we'll keel you daid.
-Entering Odia M-14. Stop by the Corvus gift shop before you leave!
Or seriously:
- Entering Helios H-10. Enable solar shields now.
- This intersystem gate maintained by Odia's Best Coffee! (or Corvus, or whatever)
- Prison Sector. Do not pick up escape pods unless authorized by wideband broadcast.
- Traffic information: Tune channel 112.
- (on entering Serco space) Serco Pilots! Enter channel 658 for security check via automated challenge-response. (and if you aren't Serco, you'd fail and have to jump out real quick before they caught on. If you are Serco but failed to tune 658, the bots would be hostile until you did and their challenge was met with a proper response.)

You can add your own tips by making a file called customtips.txt and putting it in the main Vendetta directory. (same place where your wgaf.cfg and config.ini files are located)
Ooo! Use Fortune for the messages! ^_^
