As the subject line states, I think a small real time window to the sector when in Nav mode would be a good safety feature. At least I wouldn't feel like I'm flying totally blind. ^.^

could be placed in the empty space on the right.. or just make that space semitransparent.
or you could put the little radar circles there too.

I think the "distance to nearest large object" thing is enough. It's funny to be kinda zoned out and all the sudden notice the number going down, and get that little thrill of panic.

It isn't the *LARGE* objects that I'm worried about. It's the spaceship sized objects.

Maybe make the complete nav thingy transparent, like the userlist. Same could go for stations, would be nice if you saw a fly by of the station in the background (wouldn't even need to load the data from where everybody is, but just to look cool).
