On the Relationship between Universe and Winmodems
(i) the universe is way too big -- at least for the current # of players (did you ever consider a histogram over day hours?). if you start that big, you won't attract many ppl because they will feel lost. the mission system itself is hardly endurable in its current stage.
(ii) you definitely lack a component that *forces* the nation to act as nations. ctf brought something like that into game play. clearly, ppl were forced to act together, but that created a sense of belonging together that is now almost lost among nation members. you waste an opportunity to bind ppl here...
(iii) here comes the modem part: in particular the sectors that are very crowded are not playable via modem (at least not from europe). in particular, i can hardly accomplish a combat mission anymore, because the conn doesn't manage it.
in summary, if this should be the final game...i won't pay for being a beta-tester...

It isn't the final game.
1) Account creation has been frozen. When it is time to "stress-test" the servers, new account creation will be unfrozen and there will be a call for new users. Guild has avoided actively seeking users up to now. Things should get pretty busy when that happens. The devs are quite aware of usage by day and hour.
ii) The game isn't done. Features were just added, and more content is on the way. There is a huge storyline and related features that have not even begun to be revealed. The developers are all quite familiar with online gaming and what is fun, having been in the industry and having played games for years. Right now, things are not all that fun for most people. Again, the game is not done. Even when the game is "done", the devs have vowed to continue to create content.
iii) Many players are having trouble with the combat missions due to bot "lag". The problem is already being addressed. Clearly, this is not acceptable game performance. If you look in the "Bugs" section you will note that the developers have been actively soliciting for bugs (which is the whole point of this website). If you look in suggestions (which is where your post is headed) you will note that they have been soliciting for suggestions (the other point of this website).
I don't understand why so many posts have an irritable tone. We all signed up to help create this game, and it's been evolving faster than ever. This is exciting. Relax, report bugs, and make (good natured) suggestions. Is it an all-out joy to play right now? No! Will finding and reporting bugs, making helpful suggestions about how to deal with issues, and supporting the devs help make Vendetta better faster? Yes!
