Ok, lets say we got the entire universe released.
When a player creates his character, he/she has the ability to start off of what nation he wants to be. Not to join what nation and stick to it. The player color in game depending what nation hes in has got to go.
Usually, a player in no guild are often marked as grey on the "U" function list.
A player can optionally join an NPC Guild that is Pro nation. Itani's guild color can be blue, Serco = Red, and NT = Yellow.
I don't know if custom colors for guilds so incase a player shows up as a different color in the sector listing is a good idea or not.
But usually here are the following NPC guilds that players can join:
Itani (Pro nation Guild)
Serco (Pro nation Guild)
N.T. (Pro nation Guild)
Trader (Usually, get more profit than anyone not in a this guild)

The N.T. should be the traders, in that case.
Just a random point.

NT seems to lean towards trading anyway; each time an NT player kills someone, they lose standing with the nation of the player they killed and NT nation (unless you are in corvus, or non-alligned sectors). Since equipment seems to be related to how much a faction admires you, NT players are discouraged from killing others most of the time.
