No Timers
Frankly, I see no point in having chat timers. I don't want to wait a minute to answer whoever is talking to me! Someone tell me why they are there?

To be "realistic" Eloi, and I know, it sucks. I mean, why is there a timer on sector chat but not general? I mean...what's up with that?
cause general only goes 3000m around your ship.
Vendetta Universe answer: The "delay" is due to the time it takes for a long-range message to travel from station to station via the subspace relay.
RL Universe answer: it decreases server load and prevents chat spamming. Plus, some people might think before they speak.

"In general, the wider audience you're broadcasting to, the longer the time limit between broadcasts you get. This system was designed for use by thousands of people simultaneously without becoming a total flood of chat everywhere.
Normal chat and "the bar" are the best places to talk to people you might want to group up with. Long range chat and system-wide chat allow you to voice a request for help or backup or group members without subjecting everyone in the universe with the details of what you need and who is helping you and where you are."

Okay, but could you downsize the wait time? Like 30sec instead of 1 min?
How about this. I say keep the timers but instead of it telling you that you have to wait X ammount of seconds it simply holds onto the message for you and then sends it when the timer is up? Cause I like the new chat system, but I just dont like having to A: physicly time myself to see when i can chat again B: Spam myself to find out when I can chat again.
I second that suggestion.
Or, how about sending a simple prompt when you are able to chat again, such as "you may now send another message"
"you may now send another message"... that -could- get annoying after a while.
