Measurements x10!
Why not add a 0 to the end of all the numbers in the game?
That would shut some of the "Unrealistically slow!" people up, and make me a happy person!

heh, leave the actual game alone and just change the display numbers: then you'd have people complaining that the game moves unrealistically. "it says i'm going 2000 m/s but the graphics are all wrong for that"
You know, at first I was about to say that Vendetta's spaceships are in fact fast since they use meters per second instead of miles per hour and that wide open spaces give the illusion of slow speeds... but upon closer inspection you may reconsider.
A heavy engine and heavy battery combo can currently get you up to a maximum speed of 200m/s. That is roughly 447mph. The F-15 Eagle can go up to speeds of mach 2.5. That's about 1,903mph. A modern jet deployed in 1972 is almost 4.5 times faster than a spaceship constructed around 4432 in the Vendetta universe. How do you explain that?
Vendetta's sectors would need to be bigger to accomodate these higher turbo speeds. Cruising speeds would probably need to remain low to allow safe docking and navigation. Maybe 80m/s would be a reasonable compromise.
But anyway after looking at these numbers I can see why some people are concerned about things being too slow. If raising speeds is out of the question, a new unit of measurement may be needed to indicate speed. Inflation, as the topic title suggests, is another possibility.

Faster is boringer.
Not too sure about that, rogue. Barely scraping a roid at 200m/s is anything but boring. Imagine how it would be at faster speeds...
/me drools
Not good at fighting? Become a better pilot and let the asteroids do all the work for you when it comes to taking out pirates. Kaboom!!!

Heh, I played the Star Wars Galaxies space-combat expansion briefly at e3. The ships moved about 1/4 as fast as Vendetta's ships do. And, from what I remember, Freespace's ships were slower as well, though it's been a few years.
Just multliply everything (Even my creds) by 10 and we'll have something good to go on :P
actualy, if we just added a 0 to all the numbers it would "wow" some people (the people who click on free software adds and stuff)
Just make it say that instead of 45m/s you're going 450m/s

Er...sh**. 450mps is *REALL* fast. I think that something could be done...but not add a zero, you'd have to change it in a ratio.
Well, it's space, space ships proably go waaaay faster
Nono Urza, I'd *REALLY* enjoy the game if my Valkyrie went as fast as a car. I just think that'd add so much depth, you know? I mean, I would *love* for it to take 23 1/2 hours to cross s7...the roid that is.
Hey, I like the idea of increasing speed of the craft. I've played some games that allowed for high-speed aerial maneuvers (namely high speed flight simulators, and 2 Space Combat) and I can vouch for the fact that it increases the games interest factor massively.
Allowing a craft to travel at 500 m/s would definetly increase the humor in watching newbs go speeding through asteroids at breakneck speeds similar to the Coyote in Road Runner, the ACME Rocket pulling him behind all over the place. Newbs would be flying everywhere, it'd be great!
Not to mention the wealth of sports (Roid Rage, Roid Chicken, Chicken, and Racing) it would make more extreme, buzzing a roid at 200m/s makes you wake up but buzzing it at 200m/s standard and 500m/s Turbo will make you toss some cookies!

I dont mean like that. I mean just add a 0 to the end of everything. cent lengh? 120m. Valk lengh 150m that sorta stuff
