Brief suggestion: weapons and damange

In every ship there is a lot of subsystems wchich work as one big thing. The trick is that when you take damange, one or more of this subsystems could fail, or work less efficient.

/me makes another suggestion about privatter

Every ship could have such (primary) subsystems:
Comunication
Navigation (new universe?)
Targeting
Life support
Flight control
Engines (and fuel and everything connected)

Now if you get hit, and it will be some powerfull hit (critical for example) you one or more of those subsystems should take a damange (not necessary be destroyed.. )

For example:
Communication:
light damange: some messages came "bzzzit..."-ed, and some words are unreadable. You can still read that information (1/10 words are messed up) but it's harder
moderate damange: reading any msg is hard.. every 1/5 words are messed, some messages are unreadable at all (one long Bzzzz...zzzz....zzzzz ..."
heavy damange: ppl read your messages as crap (bzzz.. :), and you can hardly find any readable word in log :)

Navigations:
You can jump "not exacly where you wanted to" (in new universe when you could jump wherever you can.. )
Currently the WH markers could be shut down from HUD and radar as well

Targeting:
light: the whole targeting system blinks (the frame for targeted ship, and crosshair "where we should shoot")
moderate: autotargeting is very unaccurate or doesn't work at all
heavy: you better practice shooting without targeting anything :)

And so on and so on...

My idea is to make damanged ships "not so good" as new one...

But notice that even very hvy damanged ship will be still able to flight and dock (and have about half of systems at "moderate damange" state, rest will be at "light"

Weapons:
In most RPG every weapon have range of damange which that particular weapon can inflict (for example: short sword 10-14)

It could be fun to implement such things in vendetta (At least i think so ;)

For example gauss cannon could have 1000-1400 (1200) which means that it CAN cause damange from range 1000 to 1400 but mostly i will float around 1200 (like in Gauss curve - mathematical function connected to prapobility)
