quick thought

May 30, 2004 Cam link
I was planning on mentioning this a while ago and kinda forgot, and due to my latest botting spree i remembered again...

I was thinking that having the experience/standing messages for killing a bot show up in the chat log prevents me from keeping track or the chat, or if the chat is really busy, it keeps me from keeping track of leveling.
also when completing trade missions the stats showing up in the log that you cannot readily view in station feels a little un-refined.

So I would suggest that the experience/standing messages be displayed maybe as a quick dissolve in and out somewhere else on the screen, and maybe (this is a stretch) having PMs pop up in station, although I am obviously not sure how you intend to handle the chained missions in the final, so if they were to just appear as missions in the mission list then the PMs from mission computer could be avoided in which case i could care less about the "pop ups")

Cheers

Nah, the experence stuff poping up in front of you will get annoying (im assuming it will be similar to the names that pop-up when you get attacked).

I think the devs are going to re-vamp/change the entire chst system anyway.

The chat system will have a complete overhaul anyway very soon. Global chat will be more limited than it is now. The emphasis will be put towards team communication instead. Anyway, let's see where it's headed in the next release. For now you can just press your console key (` default) and see the previous chat there. Scroll up using page up/page down keys whenever you want.

also, try MULTILOG. That way you have different windows for everything.

In multilog, the levelup messages (experience, etc.) are in Log 2.

actually, i quite like that idea, perhaps in a smallish font where the current attacking player appears.. just something simple like

HW+20
Itani +2

Has anyone played "Aggressive Inline" for the ps/2? Its a roller blading game where you gain xp every time you do a trick.. In that, it just pops up v.quickly in the bottom right hand corner.. stuff like

"Grind XP +10"

etc, just to illustrate my point.
