Featured Screenshot

May 25, 2004 RelayeR link
This is my submission for "Featured Screenshot"

http://homepage.mac.com/flip402/PhotoAlbum18.html

I think they should remain up for 2 days.
I didn't see any other way of submitting them.

Wow that's a bad shot. Reccomendations:

- Use at least 2x AA, preferably 4x
- Use very high textures
- Use detail set to 1/1
- Use rglow (if you have a GF FX/Radeon 9200+)

I would post a screenie to show you what it -can- look like, but I can't because of conditions ingame. [offtopic stuff removed]

roguelazer: RelayeR is using zoom for that screenshot. that's why it looks that way; it has nothing to do with his texture/detail...

hehe. you'd see the same thing, if you were a far distance away from the station and hit zoom.

nice to start a screenshot thread though. (I've seen past threads, but I'm too lazy to find them again)

Actually, it might be low detail. The distance detail determines what shows up in zoom, so if his distance LOD is too high (over, say, 10) it won't look very good. He should try 1/1. And the texture thing, 'cause his textures look like only High quality to my unprofessional eye.

....Read what she said.

he's zoomed in. screenshots dont have to be perfect.

Just saying that for the "featured screenshot", it should preferably show off all of the technical capabilities of the engine, no?

no.

I think it's a fine screenshot.

It's zoomed with all settings to max...then softened in Photoshop.

Thanks rc and AlienB

Thanks for the kind words, roguelazer. (BTW, did you click it to blow it up or just go by the thumbnail? I put a second, untouched shot to show the difference.)

Nah, it still looks pretty bad in the full-sized version...

>Nah, it still looks pretty
>bad in the full-sized version...

Yep... its OK, but the quality seems... low...

rglow is on.... i think...

Also, I think the Featured Screenshot should be changed daily like how it is now.

Edit: ooo I got a tga viewer and found a lot of old pictures..

Anyone know a good image host?

Not exactly 2xAA, but It doesn't look too crappy in my opinion.

Thats out of those 300+ tgas I never really opened :P

This is the first time I used tripod as a host, so please report any problems to me :).

Edit: Warning, the n00kparty picture is almost 1 meg in size, and the hoaxn00k is almost 700kb.

Wow! I like the second one. You can just barely make out that it's a Ragnarok in that glow. I wish you had turned off the HUD and chat area for the shot though. Would've made an excellent featured screenshot.

Suggestion taken...

I guess my s9 picture sucks then.. I won't post anymore of those then

/me goes picture hunting.

I'm getting error windows at tripod on both Safari and IE (Mac)
May 29, 2004 harvestmouse link
sorry Monk, the site linked to a "sorry can't find your site" page
May 29, 2004 MonkRX link
Im gonna kill Tripod/Lycos.

The error they gave me:

>If you're reading this message, it means
>Tripod has a bug, or a glitch, or a gremlin...
>or just an error of some kind. But all is not
>lost! Please use the Tripod Help form to
>let us know that we have a problem, and
>we'll fix it as fast as we can. Please try
>to be as specific as possible in your message,
>and please include your member name.
>Thanks in advance!

>— Tripod's Bug Zappers

There was no error form to fill out. Just some lousy FAQ page.

New Links (Still Lycos, but another hosting service from them... I hope this isn't against their ToS :P)

Edit:
Confirmation. They gave me a big

"Whoops!

We are experiencing technical difficulties.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may provide and we anticipate Homepage Studio to be working soon.
"

Bah. Stupid host! First day ive been using this host and it goes down.

Tripod isn't that bad. If you've got a browser that blocks popup ads it makes the pages adless. Image hosting works fine as long as you get the viewer to copy and paste it in their url location field.

/me hugs Safari
