II bots

WHY MUST THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE ME? I _rammed_ one of those stupid bots, and it STILL ignored me completely and ran from me. Since I'm stuck in a bus, there's no way I can keep up with it. I am CHASING bots to kill them! I can't tell you how frustrating that is!

AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG

id like to suggest placing I bots in 1 2 and 3 and placing recon and II bots in 4 12 and 6. Cause quite frankly its getting out of hand the ammount of botters we have in 4 and im guessing both other nations.

On a related note, is there any chance of having the training missions move on something other then drone IIs a bit faster? I mean, I had to kill about 100 of them in total for lvl 4, I can't remember how many more for lvl 5, and now from 5->6 I'm still killing lvl 2 drones, and if the bonuses do not increase along the way, I will have to kill about 170 more (400 bonus every 7 bots, need 10k XP, so that is roughly 175. Even with the tiny combat bonuses per bot (+2 I think), it means I will have to kill over 150 drone II bots ON TOP of the over 100 I already killed for previous levels). Now, I do not mind botting for levels, but having to fight fewer tougher bots for higher bonuses would be much more enjoyable then this senseless endless slaughter.

What is more, killing the drones was a bit challenging in a centurion on the lower levels, but now with a med/med vult it is just incredibly repetitive and not very interesting anymore...

Maybe the problem could be solved by having more then one verion of combat training available? So people could either kill many easy bots or fewer tougher ones for the same bonuses?

Ok.. and now tell me how to kill 3 sentry drones in a row without docking, while you are attackng by bunch of assult bots ?

I agree that some bots need tyo be thougher (defedner bots for instance) but that's just TOO much

and all that for just +550 (combat lvl7)

Killing Sentry bots isnt actually that hard. What is REALLY annoying is having to travel 2 sectors to find a different bot every time you killed your last assignment and for the piddly bonuses you get.

Either:

1) Increase the bonuses dramatically for higher Adv. Training.
2) Set 10 of THE SAME BOT.
3) Give a sort of combo multiplier if you can kill say, 20 or 30 without docking.

Vendetta is shying towards the "lets see how many hours we can put in" instead of the skill in determining equipment and ships.

Heh. Well, we don't have that many missions implemented yet, so we gotta keep you from running out of stuff to do before we can add more missions. Unfortunately any fun stuff I wanted to add to the game this week took a back seat to a rather serious, hard to find bug in the network code (now fixed, yay!). So the bots are still annoying and broken but I'll fix that in the coming week.

Oh, another problem with the bots. I found a way to kill them easily without taking any damage... In arcade mode, drop your forward speed to 0. Target the bot, strafe in any direction, and keep the autoaim yellow while firing constantly (and strafing in the same direction). They always seem to lag behind a little or something, and are never able to hit me.

So... Does this mean we'll get more bots, too? :P

only thing I don't like about the current missions is they take away from player interaction a bit. It went from Space Quake, to Duck Hunting v1.0.

But I presume with further missions etc this will all change, since atm the time you have to play is more important then skill you have.

Durgia: Early in a player's career, most multiplayer games tend to be, and maybe need to be, more or less single player affairs. As more and more people climb into the higher ranks of skill, more and more player interaction will occur.

One difference between what we have now and 'reality' is that almost all of the 'n00bs' were and are actually highly experienced players capable of defending themselves reasonable well (if they have the weapons to do so). But in 'reality' most 'n00bs' won't have a clue and will need time by themselves to acquire skills playing 'Advanced Robo-Duck Hunting 2004' before the lauch into a full PvP game.

Pyro: Yeah. I noticed that too. It's now no longer even necessary to straff + roll to throw off the bots. Just straff will do the trick.
