I agree. 's a bad idea. BAD PHOENIX! BAAAD! :p
Fining 10% of cash? No, I'd say that's a bad idea.
how many times have you seen a big battle in a home sector? I never said they should use exactly what I put there that was just an example, I just said some sort of penalty could be made. It would also discourage those tri flare ramming n00bs because they would kill their team mates as well. Encouraging more energy users.
P.S. please learn how to spell my name.

Here is a topic that I have heard about latley and I totally agree with the idea. Yes, its Friendly Fire, in the moment you can not kill or hurt players, just ram them into stuff and let the Wingbug do the rest :P. Well I think FF should be turned on, mabey not in the home sectors (12,2,1,4,3,6) for capping/recapturing and only to be fair for n00bs. (Or make it FF is on for people with a sepcific score average)
Well I was wondering what other people thought about the idea, below are some reason why I like FF to be on.
- Can help players on the same team.
- So no more dock flaring, so teamates get hurt.
- Fighting, put more fun into it, no more crazy sunflaring
- So I can kill some people on Serco who I dislike, it annoying changing character.

YES.. thats a great idea :)
as of now, no FF is what defines the 3 nations.
when each nation has its own story, own ships, own loyalties... this will change.
con: without the no-FF, our loosely knit nations will lose a lot of what keeps it together.
pro: players won't nation hop just to be immune from certain players.
pro: if I am chased by many members of the same nation, they can't sloppily give me a flare/swarm fest without killing their own teammates. this will probably encourage more energy weapon usage, since flares have quite a radius and is hard to control in a gang-up fight.
pro: oh yea, if mines have FF, thstation mining will be discouraged, as it will let none of your team members dock either.

The big problem I see with that is some players may be highly alienated. When you pay for a game you wouldn't want players who are "on your side" to just kill you because they dislike you.
Also, team work is now a bigger struggle. For example: maybe 5 new players have been recently killed by one much more expirienced player. They wish to fight back as a group, yet struggle even more because they end up also hurting their commrades. If that expirienced player kills one of his opponents, any of the teammates in proximity will also recieve damage from the friendly fire explosion. Shouldn't MMOG's promote teamwork?
That is why I vote no.

Okay, let me quantify what I'd like:
Friendly Fire turned OFF for nations
Friendly Fire available to be turned on for people in the same guild AND who have mutually agreed to turn Friendly Fire on.

Or when the Guilds Setup is up that FF is ON when you join a GUILD, if you want it off go to a non-guild character.
Um. Draco, if a neutral player has no allies... why would friendly fire even do anything? Personally, I like friendly fire off while training.
Hmm. Here's an idea. Make the FF be always off, but also make the ships targetting computer (hey, you know, that aim thing that signals when you can hit?) simply refuse to fire against a ship of the same nation.
This means that you would damage with rocket-splash, and if you turned off your aim, but mines (hey, they have logic and sensors.) and normal shots (whom here fight with the aim off except RelayeR?) won't mess with your own nation.

You are essentially requesting the end of factions.
If you make factions. Then there is no problems with turning FF on. I do think that mines should not hurt ppl of the same faction, Or atleast certain types.
Spider's idea is good; it is also much more "realistic".
Off for anything with a proximity trigger or homing capability, but on for everything else. It's hard to hit someone acciedntally with Gauss, but easy to issue on your own teammate because they got in the way of your sunflare.
Yes, just keep it off in home sectors.
I think FF needs to be kept off with the current galactic situation.
Currently, all the nations are already factionalized and allowing FF may just serve to allow a civil war to occur, further dividing nations. This could easily allow the current "stability" to further collapse into anarchy with potentially one group emerging on top to rule the ENTIRE universe!
This would mean that traders would be ineffectively protected, military forces would not exist. Ultimately, there would be no way to overthrow said group unless a rally of forces could be made...highly unlikely if they already beat us once.
Newbs would enter into a very very damgerous society and that could destabilize the popularity of the game...thus forcing FF to be turned OFF and a reset to occur.

People are factionalizing into nations because of the FF being off between nation members. Once we move from a "team" oriented game to a "faction" oriented game it will all be different.
Yes, until we move, FF needs to remain off to keep at least some form of control over the universe
