change weapon/bat/engine
maby you could make it so you could put an extra engine or battery in one of the weapon slots...
/me sets up a stand next to the thread selling fireproof blankets for 500c
Or even an even better idea--separate batteries for engine and weapon usage. But I doubt that'll happen, as fun as it has the potential to be. Unnerf those energy weapons!

ctishman: No need. I'm all out of kerosene. Besides, how could I in good conscious flame anyone that put that much time and effort thinking out the consequences of thier suggestion.
Conscience, o Silver-like, Con*science*. :P Good conscious indicates that your mind is in superb condition.

I'm confused, isnt it you that says gauss is unbalanced?

I think he is referring to all the OTHER energy weapons.
The "engines" on the model are exhaust ports for a reactionless engine. I turn this discussion over to Celebrim for the standard copy+paste explaination.
oh, the ones that cant kill him...i see...
Do you EVER stop posting flamebait, alienb?
There is nothing wrong with this suggestion, if you will please note -
when you buy an engine ( singular ) it should really be engines. If you will note that some ships namely the Maud have SIX engines.
If we are going to be accurate ( if you can in this sort of game / test ) then you should have to buy at least two engines to prevent you ship going round and round in circles!!
I am assuming that 'first_user29' has played Frontier ( i think it was Frontier ) where you could put what you wanted where you wanted it.
The option of adding an extra battery on a cargo vessle for longer range would be a neat idea, as would adapting two small ports to form on large one.
You can picture it now:
WTF a vult with adv-gat!!!
The possibilities are endless and it would add that element of doubt / supprise.
I'll stop now 'cos its all been said before
