persistent event schedule..

Fri 01:24PM ScotiaKnight link
may be we could have a somewhat comprehensive event schedule, complete and in a single place.. i understand that some of them are random.

i was under the impression that some of them were on an 8 hour cycle.. but.. the data before me is conflicting.

i always did odia an hour before school lets out, or when school lets out.. dst depending (or so i thought)..

according to the chat logs, some days im calling it out at 0200, 1000, 1800.. GMT, other days im calling them out at those same times but AST. thats a pretty huge variance and not even close to a dst adjustment.

im pretty confused at this point, though, that can often be the case.

(ive been away a long while, so im thinking may be its at 3 and 4 my time instead of 2 and 3 but.. its still not scaling at 8 hour intervals accross my logs. a list in gmt would be great... just times and places)

Not all of them recur on a consistent frequency. Some of them intentionally "rotate" through timing, by using odd-hour time values.

But, this is all pretty inconsistent right now. There is not centralized schedule for the Persistent Events at present. That's part of the whole "beta" aspect of the entire system.

All that said.. I understand and appreciate the value of enhanced awareness of upcoming events. I agree.

There are some events that are intended to be "sporadic" with no awareness (to avoid people "gaming" them), but there are others where prior awareness is of benefit and they're definitely designed for maximum engagement with that in mind.

So, we have to go through the Events and kind of figure out how to handle this.

I'm also in the midst of a bunch of UI work, and we definitely need some new UI that better tells people what's going on in the universe. That isn't top-of-mind for me right now, but it's definitely something that's needed.
