Guild Mentor & Universal Navigation Colors
Guilds currently have official commanders, lieutenants, and council members. Perhaps a designated mentor? There are many reasons such an endorsement would be an advantage, my sole concern is trust. In a digital space, trust is a rare commodity. For example, try giving away uc cells to new players. Anyways, thoughts?
More of my concern is that when selecting a color for a specific sector in the Navigation menu, the color that appears on the display is not universal to every system. It is filtered though the background graphic of that specific system. So one specific green isn’t always the same green in every system. Or do my eyes deceive me and my concern is user specific?

the selection colour on the navmap is transparent so if the cell below it already has additional colouring like a hive infestation (light grey brighter depending on infestation level) it's going to affect the resulting mouseover colour.
What is the specific suggestion being made here?
It also looks like there two different thoughts that are trying to be expressed. Please post each suggestion in its own thread.

Exactly!
Disregard guild mentor. The navigation color for sectors is my primary concern. #Janky
So.. I'm not against universal navigation colors, or whatever, but we should probably not lose other information that's being provided, like hive status or potentially a storm or some other case.
We're in the middle of a big user-interface revamp, and the Nav menu is.. probably last on my list (it's imperfect, but less-bad than lots of other parts of the UI), but eventually I'd like to make this kind of thing work a bit differently, like (perhaps):
- Having "shapes" for sector status (Circle, Diamond, X, whatever).
- Maintaining user-definable colors.
- Etc..
So.. I understand the criticism, but I'm not sure I want to just make the custom colors override everything? Especially because that's a change in functionality, and it would essentially "lose" information for some people who might be used to it (even if it's a bit weird).
But, I guess the tradeoff is.. I don't know when we'll get to improving the Nav menu, it might be awhile (at least, compared to the rest of the UI).
Still, I'm open to continued feedback on this, and ideas and such, if this is an issue for people.

I like the descriptor, "maintaining user-definable colors." I'll clarify that my issue is with finding a color to use for waypoints when navigating across systems. Highlighted sectors. Maybe provide a few neon colors that will absolutely stand out. A compromise?
