Graphic Enhancements

Since most sectors are empty, I suggest adding some graphical elements to create a more vibrant experience. Some options:

* More light-emitting/reflecting elements to slightly change the color of the ships... this helps with orienting our ship's position.

* More or larger particles so that when moving the ship, we have a better idea of our speed.

* Some localized nebulae. Well... this would involve adding elements to the sectors (which isn't a bad idea).

* Ship propulsion traces. Like the particles, this would help give a better idea of the ship's speed and make it easier to see other ships... they might not always be present, but at least when making a curved trajectory or when activating turbo (to give a couple of examples).

* More camera movement and shaking. A blurring effect could accompany this.

It would be great to have the option to enable, adjust, or disable these kinds of things. I think it wouldn't be too difficult to implement, considering that many of these features are already present in the game.

Absolutely not, I would rather play the game on an abacus than have these beautifully rendered vertices soiled by smeary post processing effects!

Ship trails similar to the current swarm trails on the other hand would be... exceptionally cool though (I vote to make them very faint and to give an option to toggle them because as soon as a significant amount of NPC's get throw in the mix the trails would greatly contribute to visual noise.)

I don't have any real gripes with the graphics whatsoever in their current state. The game looks great, the only peeve I can pick at is the lack of consistency between assets which isn't easy to fix type of deal.

The only change to the graphix I'd like to see in the near term would be more contrasted (generally less luminous) nebulae/skyboxes.

PS: Assuming you're running on windows/mac/linux I suggest you look into re-shade; do not expect the game to run as well as it would without reshade putting it's hooks into the rendering pipeline; vo's got a "special" game engine that has zero reshade support and the devs don't really have time to dedicate towards making sure their engine plays nice with reshade either. (do not expect reshade or the game to always play nice with each other and if you run into issues don't start writing tickets expecting the devs to dedicate their time to fixing reshade for ya)

That said you can have a lot of fun with the game's visuals that way; even the DoF "filters" sort of work if camera/optical artifacts are what you're after!
