SERVER CLEAROUT
I think we should have a clear out on the server. If you go to "Player Rankings" I've seen about 400 people who don't even play. I think if we clear it on next update we know how many people play "Vendetta".
Just an Idea.
Just an Idea.
It's a frequent suggestion, and a good one, but not a priority at the moment.
Ahem... I've seen over 3000 people with 0 everything...
3000??
try 8 or 9.000

Errrr.... I have 0 everything. I gave myself a reset and now I'm waiting for the next full reset to roll around before I start playing again. Don't touch my account!
They just mean they want the server player stats to be cleared.. so that only the people that are actually playing are on the page.. instead of the hundreds of pages of names with 0,0,0 everything. :) Accounts can stay, just not the stats.
It's a known issue and a low priority. It doesn't hurt or limit anything, it's just inconvenient for those that check the scores.
In that case, I have a better idea. Stop counting PKs, kills, and deaths. Just display a KD ratio and total score. Reduces the incentive to care about the scores.
Just a few things to consider.
I think scores should be pulled down from public access altogether. It's one of the many ways that'll encourage teamplay and discourage bot mining. I mean it can be visible only to the person who is logged on, but not everybody else. Those who actually pay for the game can then have the option of displaying their stats. Either way the ranking system needs an overhaul to have a better indicator of skill. It should be a based on a system of proportions or visual graphs, not cumulative numbers.
How else will newbies make their way up in the rank in the final version if the first person who ever played Vendetta keeps playing everyday and killing bots nonstop? It's sort of unfair to the newbie to have to do all that extra work to catch up (IF they'll ever even catch up). It may be something that the Guild should reconsider. In the end it might hurt sales when players realize that they've been making little progress over the course of a few months and may decide to terminate their account.
I don't like the idea of resets either. I mean unless there's a glitch or exploit that causes a certain player to gain an unfair advantage in money/stats, I think they should refrain from ever resetting the stats once the final version of Vendetta is out. This is after all meant to be a persistent MMORPG world where careers and personal character stats would last as long as you're willing to pay for your account, right? There's nothing more disappointing than having to log in one morning only to see that your stats, inventory, and progress has been wiped clean.
In other words I don't think rolling resets is a good solution to this problem. Instead, a more flexible and team-oriented stats board would benefit everyone more in the long run, including our cuddly little newbies. On top of that it'll be easier to maintain overall.
That's all.

IMNSHO, stats are more appropriate to an FPS. Leaving them up discourages roleplaying and encourages players to do whatever they can for more score. I say pull 'em, their time has passed.
Stats should only be displayed in the following places, IMHO:
- current users page (also include overall rank)
- onscreen stats for current target or sector player list (bounty, score - as is)
- user's personal page when logged in.
I'd also like to be able to query the server from another website with an approved script so that visitors to my website could see my current rank-list style stats.
