discord channels
Could we perhaps have a half dozen voice channels on discord? I understand we dont really use voice a whole lot these days, regardless..
Auto configured channels will be set to a region for whoever joins first.. if someone from australia joins general.. its now basically an australian server for everyone who joins afterward. not ideal.
I find low bitrate audio more consistent with the huge rise of wireless users, but some may prefer higher bitrates.. perhaps an auto configured "Vendetta-HQ" with a high bitrate for those specific cases.
"General" could be auto configure server. --for general @16~32kbit
"Airwave" could be auto configure server. --for 'open mic' music streaming @96~128kbit
Strictly vendetta chat @16~32kbit
Vendetta-NA: could be US central (midway for east and west)
Vendetta-EU: could be Rotterdam
Vendetta-SA: could be Singapore (SEA, central to Au, Cn, In, Ph, has excellent infrastructure)
quite a few of us are very vocal, myself included.. this would guide what and where something is acceptable and offer hard set regions so people can opt to use them if/as desired.
lengthy external "conversation" (aka: nonsense, nuisances, politics, other games, wide open mics at work, people who never play the game etc) dont really belong in these new vendetta-only channels and could potentially be banned from using them after a single warning.
this offers us haven, a place to assist players and not be disrupted by people who cant take a hint to shut up, or have little social grace. LoL (while still allowing them to use general)
traditional discord app/desk streaming is an opt-in affair so it wouldnt matter so much where that occurs, but its entirely possible to pipe your audio directly to chat.. so that kinda of open mic audio streaming should only occur in the "Airwave" channel.
none of these channels should enforce push to talk.. its a pain in the ass typically. if you sit in a vendetta-only channel with open mic and arent participating in the game, youd fall under the nuisance category.
go to general or feel the hammer.

Humm. I actually wasn't aware of the manual Region options for voice channels.
Creating the channels themselves is pretty trivial.
But, having really reactive moderation and banning and such is a bit more complicated. I mean, if Luxen or Whistler are online, that's easy enough. But any other time, I don't really have a solution.
So, to recap..
- Reduce General from (current) 64bit to 32kbit, keep it Auto-Region.
- Add a new Airwave music streaming channel at 96-128kbit, Auto-Region.
- Add specific regional channels for NA, EU, AP, at 32kbit.
Will people know what an "Airwave" channel is supposed to be for? Is that a common Discord server term?

Heheh. I'm one of the 0.0001% who get that reference.

I think this is a suggestion, that while warranted, would take away dev time from the actual game, unless they could give the discord mods permissions to make these changes..
Why spend any dev time doing this when such a small percentage of the game even uses vo's discord voice chat? And the ones that do use voice ,usually use their guild voice chats anyway.
It's my opinion that the devs should be spending time on the actual game and not resources on third party tools that are utilized by such a small section of the player base.
As an aside, I have no idea what airwave means.

yea the only reason i mention the audio channel, is a couple people were talking about streaming in 100.. and were trying to set up radios.. so it was basically to facilitate their interests (not mine particularly).
and yea, moderation would be a pain in the ass. i just got carried away typing as i do. airwave was arbitrary name selection. could be anything. streaming?

ps. i agree we dont use chat much anymore, but when we do theres a fair pile of us and it would just be nice to have extra rooms to spread out. in addition, "may be" theres reasons people dont use chat so much these days.. regardless the setup is a 3 minute task.
even if moderation isnt a realtime affair, we could still caution players (as players) to take it to general and explain that vendetta chat is for vendetta. general is for the rest.

I agree with you in that it's a 3 minute task, for players like us. But, for a dev team of two.i think it's different
Like they are already spending time reading this suggestion. Then hey have to spend time debating if it's worth it. And then they have to spend time figuring out where it fits in with their goals. If they think it's worth it then they have to plan it out. Does that plan align with everything else, I don't know, let's spend more time with planning to see if it does...
