group setting that doesn't show locations
allow group creator to set whether or not other group members can see locations. But, kills can still be tracked. It would be useful in mutli system spontaneous events to create more activity in VO. Like hunting a player hiding in grey space. It's ok if the group creator can see locations since he or she would be hosting. Updates for the creator might be useful even to track what ships event players are flying to make sure they switch into ec89s after death. Other members of the event would see which players are out when killed, but never locations.
Think about this as a hunt a players ship in grey space event for a reward, but the ship cannot go to empty sectors :) Credit for the idea goes to ITO commander Osta :)
Since it's ITO's idea and he wanted me to do it.. maybe I only get access to it ;)

So, you want to invite players to a group, probably new players, where you're the only one who can see the location so you can hunt them?
You've gotta be fucking kidding...
If you don't want to share your location... don't join the group.

I think a better solution would be to either multibox and have independent groups for hunters and huntees, or to only group with one section (depending on what you would prefer to see). For announcements, you'd manually share information in chat, or make a plugin.
When an event goes multi-sector, you'll simply have to accept a partial loss of control and instead be reactionary about rules, or perhaps adapt the rules to better accommodate. In this instance, why do pilots have to be "out" after death? Instead, couldn't you let them join the hunters team?
Maybe i'm misunderstanding, but i'd envision the event having a group v group tag-like ruleset.

If this for an event. Then i would be kind of ok for this. But the event host has to have the event officially submitted AND listed in the game. So the spontaneous part of the suggestion is a big -1 for me.
Perhaps asking for the addition of a "show location when in group" toggle in the options menu somewhere, kinda like we have for the buddy list, would be a better idea?
First it has the advantage of (probably) being easier to impliment than a rework of the grouping system.
Second, it could have functionality for other scenarios, like when joining a group of mixed players for an event and not wanting them to know where your capship is parked.
It would also give you enough to work with to run another one of those events.

Luxen gives me imposter syndrome.. I'm just trying to create fun in VO. If Luxen want's to run with the Idiea I'm fine with i, but Luxen get ITO's permission first since it was their idea. I'm sure they'd rather have you host the event Luxen. You are more qualified.
I'm low on credits anyway. But, Inevitable, I hunt those that challenge me. Not, newbs. Unless they challenge me which they do sometimes. I'd enforce group rules the best I am able.

Luxen does not need permission from anyone but the devs to run an event.
Whister.. I run events without permision. ;)
