I don't dislike the idea, but with three built-in HD beams, it seems geared towards the current mining method, given the HD beams' distance requirement. As such, it is overkill when a Trident or Goliath with a queen beam already does quite the job. Especially if you bring a mining rag to the activity. This would likely increase the player's productivity per asteroid, I could be wrong, but it sounds like it goes counter to Incarnate's goal of limiting individual ability to flood the market.
Changes I'd make to the OP would be based on my limited understanding of the future of mining.
Take away the HD beams and build with three to four queen beams. There is no large port but a built-in mineral scanning system as described for the new asteroid fields. The queen beams act independently, targeting different asteroids within range.
Sacrifice docking space for additional storage capacity while reducing acceleration and top speed. I would limit docking to one ship at a time.
Turret and shield capacity should be sufficient to provide decent protection in most bot environments.
Enhance the player commands so that the trident can be directed to fly through the asteroid field, targeting asteroids with specific or all minerals.

Also, I think this should be a Goliath on steroids rather than a Trident (or a new capital ship type- perhaps something akin to what I believe the Maurader was meant to be). Based on the appearance of each, I can see the Trident as either a transport or aggressive ship, while the Goliath has a better impression of being a mining barge.
The point of it not being a Goliath is its only available to subscribed players. Free players already get far too much in my opinion
as to queen beams that would be overpowered
as to future mining (soon tm) not gona happen and if it does I'm outa here
if my 10 years worth of roid locations becomes useless im gone

This is just my opinion on the matter. I would love something different, such as a capital version of the maurader that, if my understanding is correct, was initially conceived to be a modular ship capable of hauling additional cargo holds. Whether that is true or not, I can't say, but it is what I remember being told early on when I started playing.

That is entirely possible, though I envision them positioned so that they do not overlap each other in coverage. Again, I am basing my adaptation on assumptions I am making. Those assumptions are that the harvest per asteroid will be significantly reduced from what we can currently get while being spread across more asteroids in a given sector region for an equivalent potential harvest per time spent. My vision is to take advantage of the queen beam's range and its mining speed to enable the mining trident/barge to travel through the region, targeting those areas at a slow pace while the beams select and mine the desired ores. As such, without meaningful data, since the new mining sectors do not exist yet, I assume that the player advantage would likely be similar to the current method of supporting a capital ship equipped with a queen beam with either a mining rag or a behemoth variant equipped with HD beams. It might even be less productive.

I'm not as dedicated a miner, but having my own history with VO, I certainly understand. My comments are not meant to undermine your OP, it is in GS hands to determine what is good for the game. Rather, I hoped to take your good idea of a functionally focused capship and present an option that might work with the proposed mining changes.
