+activateturrets revamp allow multiple targets selection
Seems pretty dull that a capital ship would target only a single ship at a time;
We should be able to assign a target list that could be based, on factions and/or on ship types.
Either with a gui reflecting sector list or with commands.
/turrettargetfaction serco; uit; intani; Xng Xi; TPG; oone; Everyrone. Group members would be excluded.
/turrettargetship EC;Behemoth, Ragnarok
The turrets would pick the target nearest in sight and in the list and fire at it.
Why? To improve weapon efficiency in both defense and attack scenrio and to give more purpose to a current glorified barge.

If this was a thing id def resub 😂
You could do that with a plugin, tbh.
Not quite? The game only (currently) allows single targetting, and your turrets fire at *that* (if they're within range and sight of the turret itself). You can keep a list of targets and even switch between them, but target switching is rate limited and you cannot tell if/when your turrets are firing anyways.
I don't think target listing is the way to go about this functionality - I think it would be too clumsy. A better system would be to just enable something like a "fire on all hostiles", and we can use existing enemy designation to mark extra people to be fired on. At the same time, I feel like there must be some reason why we *didn't* get this, perhaps a balance reason? /shrug/

I agree with Luxen on this, fire on all hostile targets would be a good solution. That is more or less what NPC capships do.
"fire on all hostiles" would be only an half of the solution and only for a defense point of view. I want to play agressor and be able to shoot at any target that are hostile or not hostile like any pirate would and i want to be able to pick my targets.
I don't see the point to limit the gameplay for other when you could ask for shortcut to bypass selection with a command "/turrettargetfaction hostiles" .
Once the commands are availble, user interfaces can be managed by plugin.
PS: it could be also using an implementation of makefriend into the game to set the friendly and hostiles.
