Make Capital Rail Cannon projectiles appear on radar.
So, we have this super powerful gun now that can one-hit-kill most fighter ships and leave most others held together with paint flakes and loose wires. This is often a surprise to players who go from 100% to dead out of nowhere with little warning, especially if it comes from behind where you can't see the shots.
Radar already shows us missiles, rockets, and mines and gives the player some awareness of what's behind them and whether or not they need to take evasive maneuvers.
Vendetta Online has no "look" binds the way flight simulators often do. As far as I know, the only way to see if rails are being fired at you from behind is to use mouselook.
How feasible is it to make the Capital Rail Cannon's "48mm Xithricite" projectile show up on radar?

It could probably be added to radar. What default color?
You can make them different colors? I hadn't given much thought to the idea that different types of projectiles could even be different colors...
Idk, orange might stand out.

What about sky-blue to match the colour of a railgun projectile?
Cyan is already used for dueling players.
red of course
I don't think red would work, seeing as enemies show up as red. A red dot flying at ~200m/s isn't helpful. However, if the shape of the radar blip is maybe small and oval (capsule shaped, perhaps?), you could get away with different colors. Missiles and mines are yellow, if I'm recalling correctly. My personal opinion would be to go with the oval/capsule shape and utilize orange or yellow.
I think shapes and colors too close to normal objects will not stand out on smaller displays.
Still, why aren't these just being tied to the existing projectile yellow blips? You could go further and allow accessibility plugins like radar_color to discern between projectiles, and customize it however you want, but the standard projectile system should be fine.
At the end of the day, the object's fast. if someone isn't paying attention to who's in their sector, I don't think a specially colored blob will help all that much.

How does red not work if enemies show up as red? Isn't the entire point to be aware of a hostile rail coming your way? Red seems totally appropriate.
Let's be honest though, it doesn't really matter WHAT color it is given how fast it moves. The velocity alone will be enough to differentiate between it and other weapons.

Red wouldn't work since the person firing at you is probably already red on the radar. So their blip overlaps with the rail blip, making it difficult to see the rail blip. Yellow would be better IMO.
Or let's just be able to set our own color for all blips?
This smells like a nerf cap rail thread in disguise.
How do you figure this as a cryptic nerf? All this does is give players a way to tell that they are being fired at before a surprise insta-kill.
I use cap rails all the time, and if this gets implemented I'll still use them all the time.

My apologies I just skimmed through the thread and had your first paragraph in mind when I saw another reply about it's speed. Did not mean to detract from this suggestion.
+1. Yellow would work I think
Bright orange +1
Rolled out tonight, 1.8.632. Still waiting on MacOS and iOS releases, due to challenges around binary updates on those platforms.
Used yellow, as it was already in use as an obvious weapon/projectile, and should be noticeable.
