I think noobs should be able to get 2 free ships. The weak bot ship and the bus. They can learn to trade in the bus, and fight in the bot ship!

I don't really see what advantage they'd have with the bot ship... it's not really that much better

It's actually a bit worse.

It’s got two weapons ports tho, which would be good for learning combinations of weapons. Make it faster than the bus (better acceleration), one cargo slot, warp disabled, and only available from the home sectors.

No! Newbs have to learn to fight in a weak ship with puny acceleration. That's the only way they'll get good in the longrun.

No sarcasm involved. I was dead serious. During the reset I saw what happens when you give someone who just started a million credits. The first thing they do is buy a valk. Then they get the crap beaten out of them because they never learned how to fight properly.

I learned how to die in a vult... then after a few deaths I learned how to fight in a valk

but if you give them a slightly more powerful ship that's free to train in they dont die immediatly. And look at it this way, i think people will be a lot more attached to their cash when the game goes gold.

The bot ship is far, far suckier than the bus. Trust me. It's slower than every other ship in the game, _even with the unreal engine_. It weighs like 20 tons, just to prevent the easy bots from being too maneuverable, and it has half the hit points.

Tghe tought of increasing the stats of the bot ship are insane. Already that craft can easily best a green pilot in a bus so giving equal matches in the same craft are insane until the newb learns to fly well. The increased Bot Craft would make the bus obsolete since it would be Combat Ineffective.

Actually, the drone ship is better than the stock bus in fighting terms. It is very easy to die in a bus without even scratching the bot. Their shots do 500 per laser, X2 because there are 2 guns. Plus, the fire rate is higher, therefore, the bus is worse at fighting than the drone ship.

EDIT: It only takes 6 rounds of bot laser fire to kill a bus, granted that both lasers hit each time. Players should be given 75c whenever their cash (including BountyBot account) is zero, so they may trade to make a *meager* profit.
