Boost Speed and Firing Delay of Gat HV
*apologies for the title -- I meant to have it read: Boost Speed and Decrease Energy...*
The Gatling HV is and has been utterly useless. We already have a useless non-auto aim gatling cannon, so the HV deserves some more distinction to bring it relevance.
I also think there is need for a better "sprayfire" weapon.
I think the following will help in achieving those objectives.
Proposal:
Increase Velocity to: 380m/s
Decrease Energy to: 7/blast

I am not against this, but I would suggest this to be mkii version of the of the HV and that it be a manued item.
why? Are you suggesting that the HV is *not* useless and redundant?

Correct.
Correct.
380 m/s?? Thats almost railgun speed. A railgun with a high rate of fire and infinite ammo, but a spread and lower damage. If you're doing this, really nerf it's autoaim and increase the grid to 18.
It doesn't have autoaim lol! Correct, it's like a slowed down spray rail gun.
380 m/s is a bit whack dude, even with current stats (Completely useless garbage of a weapon similar to screamers and popcorn) without touching any other stats just giving it a speedboost to 250m/s would probably be enough to make it much more viable, furthermore; Inc stop being a ninny regarding addon/ship changes.
"I can't change things too much because you'll whine".
The amount of pent up anger I harbor have over absolute nonsense like the conc railgun that you've refused to play with ever since their inception or worse yet the fucking flechette cannons mkI/2 that people have been whishing for fifteen fucking years that they stop sucking!
The best you could do was implement a third of what I suggested out of fear of upsetting people over addon balance and yet you'll be quick to say that it isn't something you care for pisses me and you're more concerned with keeping variety between weapons pisses me right the fuck off man.
FFS.

Just because the munitions shoot faster it doesn't mean it will be OP. It will be "High Velocity" -- which presumably the "HV" stands for. I'd be fine with a lesser boost, but it can't be a measly 20m/s faster like it is now... that boost makes effectively zero difference over it's lesser variant.
I agree that something should be done to help the HV.
This weapon is "end game content" so it should be a powerful weapon that is commonly used by end game level players... and on that note, I have tested this weapon to find that it does not actually provide the DPS that it claims in it's stats. I consider it to be a bug personally.
Mathematically by its stats it should provide more DPS than the mega posi but it actually does not. A single mega posi mounted on the front of the goliath where the battery drain is no longer an issue will desheild another goli... however the Gat HV which is supposed to provide higher DPS WILL NOT no matter how long you fire. This is a bug that needs to be fixed.
Whether you believe the bug is that the stat page is wrong, or that the underlying damage calculation is not matching the stats is irrelevant to this post. The fact is, this is an end game gun and it should be more powerful than typical weapons.

With a license of only 6/-/-/-/-, why do you think the HV is endgame?

I call it end game because this license requirement is high but especially because of the availability of the weapon. I don't think the weapon is available in new player areas.. but I could be wrong??

The license is low. Most new players get combat 6 in their first month of play. Especially if they have mentors. I think your definition of new player area and mine differ. Some of the low/mid low level missions send newer players to grey space. Since the weapon can be acquired in four systems, including odia, I would not even call it mid game content.
It only needs combat, meaning that heavy is not needed (low grinding requirement). Super easy to get.

We all float,
At least we all agree that the weapon is not particularly useful.. I think making a mkII version with better stats is a reasonable suggestion as well.
