Mouse look on mobile
The current most convenient way to play on mobile is with mouse look on but many have said to me mouse look off might help in pvp more. But with mouse look off, there is a joystick that appears when we turn off mouse look & I think that's the problem since it makes it extremely hard to control the ship atleast for me.
I find if I use the command to toggle mouse look while flying instead of going in options>advanced>controls, this is what happens (video here for better explanation)
https://youtu.be/HJuRzWfmVWc
When I use the command while flying, the joystick won't appear which makes it very easy to control the ship. I would like if we can have a feature to turn off right joystick & have the full right half function as joystick (as shown in video when I first use the command)
I thought then I'll just use the command & let it be that way but you can see, as soon as I jump to a different sector or undock from a station controls break a little bit till I toggle mouse look from the options>advanced>controls.
Hopefully I was able to explain everything.
If this change can be done, I'd love it & in sure so will other mobile players too.....
Just give us option if we want to use the old style mouse look off or the mouse look off where full right side of screen functions as a joystick.....
BTW when I use the command to toggle the mouse look, sensitivity does change a bit to around 10 or 8 (I have mine on 14 with mouse look on)

I think this one should be in Bugs
No no it shouldn't because this time the bug is good..... I want it to be that way. I guess I'm unable to explain myself very well so I'll make chapter markers on my video with how mouse look should be on mobile.
I'm suggesting to make that bug a feature instead of fixing it

I'll retype the whole message from above since I messed up with my English a bit......
It shouldn't be in bugs because I'm suggesting to make this bug a feature rather than removing/fixing it.
Now chapter markers are added to the video & you can clearly see how I want mouse look to be on mobile, how it currently is (which should be removed imo or given option to be charged out for how it should be).
One thing I forgot to add in video is - when you use /mlooktoggle to turn back mouse look on (without jumping to a different sector & without Docking with anything) it will get to normal mouse look on. It won't bug like it did when huge joystick was on the screen.
Make sure to watch the video for better explanation on everything.
Let me know if it's clear how I want mouse look to be.
Please don't remove this bug or make the command unusable like /displayshippos

Neat!
Umm. Could you give me a sense of what you want, without DroidButtons? Like, in terms of the basic default setup?
It seems like this thread is confused a bit more by things like "giant joystick inputs" which are really external-plugin related challenges.
As far as I know, there are already options for using the game the "old way" prior to the new mouselook? We specifically added those when we added mouselook.

wow.. some good positive input for real ideas about the mobile client.. this is awesome, please do elaborate. I have spent some time training others at PvP but I'm on PC and many of them are on mobile. Often I find myself saying "this is the kind of movement you need to control on the fly in combat, you will have to figure out how to do this on a mobile client". I think they deserve anything that helps them with proper ship control in PvP which is difficult enough for PC players. One difficulty I have heard is it is difficult to keep the ship facing the opponent, making this happen automatically wouldn't be fair.. but making it easier using some manual controls can only be good. Mouselook ON during PvP is something I teach against because it causes the ship to "flop" exposing the broadside to the opponent. However I have heard that this presents some difficulties with mobile controls.
Okay. This thread is about very specific content that the OP wants to be default, or not have removed, etc. I'm just trying to get clarity on what he's asking, exactly.
Other suggestions about "stuff we wish was on the mobile client" should be posted to another thread. And probably be informed by actually using the mobile client enough to know what's already possible there through configuration options.

Sorry for not looking at threads for a while..... Now that giant joystick is actually not plugin related... With all plugins removed it will still appear if you use /mlooktoggle command while flying & jump to a different sector.... At least after my testing.
For clarity of what I want is - remove the right joystick from default mlook off UI & make the whole right side of screen act as a joystick.
Just like how it is when mlook is on. There is no joystick & that is what mobile needs. Joystick on right should not exist in any mode on mobile imo....
Hopefully I made myself a bit clearer.

Have you tried just doing a full game reset? We don't use the joysticks at all on mobile anymore, nor have we since (I think) last year sometime.
We had a "hybrid" default, like you describe, for awhile last year. But that was deprecated in favor of mouselook on both sides. However, we "preserved" existing configs for players who didn't do a reset.
You could manually remove (or simply rename) config.ini and wgaf.cfg, or can do a "reset to defaults" in controls (I think), or you can do a Clear Data on the App from the Android OS, but that will nuke everything. Similarly, one could un-install and re-install the app.

Yes I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling & same thing.
For me, mouse look on will not make me use the joystick. But mouse look off will otherwise no other way of turning
"Mouse look off" on mobile will force you to use joystick to turn your ship. "Mouse look On" will let you use your entire right side of the screen to turn your ship...
Have you tried doing the same thing I did in the video with toggling mouse look while flying? Id assume yes so tell me a little bit about your experience with that. If you didn't yet I highly recommend to do so to know what I experienced & what I want as an in game feature.
Also we don't use joysticks at all on mobile anymore - we'll guess what every mobile player will have to use joystick if they wish to use mouse look off on mobile.... You can ask any mobile player about this if it's true or not.
If you're saying that the feature I'm asking for is already in game, well it's not or atleast we don't know how to enable it....

Anything regarding this? Incarnate? I really want that annoying joystick removed from mouse look off mode
Personally, I can agree with TJ based on the factor that I myself am primarily a mobile user. In player vs. player combat I do tend to have issues turning my ship to face the enemy, and here is the reason for my struggles and what I believe TJ is referring to;
For example; I am flying a Valkyrie fighting a Sky Command prom. the prom player is on PC or is using a controller to better use their turning capabilities, while I am restricted to the game default joystick. when sliding down on the joystick you hit the edge of your phone or tablet (whichever mobile players play on these days) and your movement is stopped, because your finger slid over the edge of the device, rendering your input only partial, instead of complete and continuous like controllers and PCs.
That accidental slip off the joystick because you hit the input limitation based on the borders of your screen, gives the enemy a second longer to land very good and fatal shots on you, ending the fight in you spending thousands of credits to either replace of purchase a new ship. The same can be said for any profession that requires maneuvering around to do, like Players fighting the Hive, or players fighting unaligned pirates in Latos, and Serco or Itani in Deneb.
My overall point with this description of a normal player vs player moment between a mobile and PC/controller/or even other mobile users is that the joystick is in a position where our mobility is limited based on how much space between the edge of our device input area and the joystick input area itself. I can agree that mobile users would benefit to utilizing the entire right half of the screens they use for turning input, as the current setup just isn't able to compete with the PCs and controllers others use in a combat perspective.

I didn't say that my finger slips off.... Or anything like that. JOYSTICK IS NOT PROVIDING PROPER CONTROL. If I want to change direction I'm turning in, i just cannot do it fast enough when compared to having the full right half of the screen being used.
Simply remove joystick permanently or give us the option to disable/enable joystick. Whichever player decides to use.
I don't hit the edge so that my input isn't registered properly. Input registration speed & accuracy is a problem since many times you held joystick for a second too long in one direction & now you are in a condition as if you were shot by 20 flares in a row. Or you just want to turn from right to left & it WILL take 0.01 second longer making you an easy target.
When using full right half of the screen, I can do the exact point blank movements that are required to aim for just the perfect shot & not have 0.01 second reaction time loss.

I won't have any further comment until we have time to look at this, and understand what is happening. The system is already extremely configurable, so I think there's a combination of a bug, and misunderstanding, but I don't know exactly what yet.
This is a lower priority than issues that immediately impact the stability of the game, or our ability to release updates. Development takes time.
Some touch users definitely use the touch virtual-joystick input config; we aren't "removing it permanently". The joystick input can be configured across a variety of input response curves as well, which drastically impacts.. well.. response.

Rgr.... yea some mobile players do use the joystick so removing it would be a bad idea. Ability to toggle it on or off separately is the best option.
