Pilot's key
make a pilot's key that would allow your mates to fly your capship while your online!
This kind of directly intersects with the current business model of the game (having a capship being one of the major reasons to subscribe).
So, with this, you would inevitably get people leaving characters online, sitting in stations, or something, so their guild-mates could use their capships, or whatever else. It's a little funky.
We have long been considering some kind of paid-rental option though, where basically you can "buy" a capship for a limited period of time, or (for more) buy one that just has no insurance policy. This same logic could be applied to buying a "pilot pass" or something, with a limited duration. But, I don't know exactly how the mechanics of that would work..

Thank you for seeing the value in such a thing and replying!
+1
For all of the possibilities mentioned by Incarnate, any one of which I think would be an awesome addition to the game.
Could use one of those options and tie it to a sub as well :)

possible mechanics:
For purchased key:
A purchased key becomes an available mission to the player that must be completed at the station where the capship would be received or launched. Mission completion gives you the capship with a timer. If you are in the capship when the timer expires, it explodes or vanishes and sends you home losing all cargo or ships contained therein. If the capship is destroyed you have to pay again to get it back. (unless you do it as a livery where the player paid real money). A livery item sounds really awesome actually.. also allows the possibility of gifting someone a capship temporarily. It would be useful also as a reward for people doing events or for other events that are integrated into the game!
or
For player provided key:
A key provided by a player requires the pilot to go to a cap station where the ship is parked (balance). If the owner enters the capship then he immediately regains control and you must travel back to a cap station to relinquish control again. If the owner deletes/rejects the key, the pilot is sent home but the cap ship remains at the location it is at unattended and the cargo is lost(further balance). Consequences for destruction of the capship are the same and the Owner accrues the costs of replacement therein.
Incarnate.. please let me know if you hadn't intended to get that deep into think this through yet and I will leave it alone.

I mean, posting ideas on Suggestions is literally the point; so "getting deep" is fine.
Just understand that I'm not implying, in any way, that we're going to do any of this. But, I'm open to continued discussion, and I'll read it?

+1 to a rental capship with no insurance for - subscribed players-
Premium should be included in the price for the rental ship. Like 7 days ship rental with premium
