mineral growth/crystal/deposit
A chunk of high rarity minerals densely packed, able to be targeted and mined, and only found through exploration (spawns inside asteroid debris fields or on the surface of other asteroids). The deposit is destroyed after reaching 100k in tempurature, by taking enough damage (to dissuade using wide-area explosives for blanket-mining of debris fields?), or after a number of units have been mined. Ore extraction is a bit slower than normal asteroids, due to the density of the material.
Growth/Crystal/Deposit: different naming system depending on the ore type
Growth: Organics, nano synthetics, etc
Crystal: Aquaen, silicates, etc.
appears like tiny delicate shards
Deposit: rocky ores and metals, etc.
appears like tiny blocks
these shouldn't respawn from sector inactivity, but rather work on a timer similar to how the unrats work, and placement should be semi-random (find an available and compatible asteroid, and place nearby). Additionally, temporary debris fields could be created during a "debris shower".

+1 for the new mining methods that will keep players mining and changing roids.
I've noticed a bunch of 'asteroid debris' and other small rocks that you can blow up. I'm wondering if this is setting up some type of rng roid game where they randomize the roid contents with some having really lucky yields. And after a certain amount of time they shuffle the deck so to speak.
