Buff TU Mines

TU mines have become severely nerfed now that bots can easily target and destroy them. Others may chime in, but my typical use case is when flying a capital ship, I come across a fleet of unrats or a blockade that I'm unprepared for and I need to make a hasty exit. In other words, it's a defensive weapon, not used to farm drops. From my understanding, mines were made targetable by NPCs because of server side issues of people creating massive mine fields causing crazy collision physics. TU mines are inherently limited in that respect: you can only carry 2 at a time and they are extremely expensive to reload.

As such, I propose that TU mines be excepted from the targeting behavior of bots. Also since you cannot drop mines in the NFZ, players could not use them to grief people in stations.

I'm interested in others opinions. How would you change TU mines? Currently, I don't see much use for carrying TU mines anymore.

For posterity, here is the previous thread about the changes to mines: https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/37101

TU mines are still effective against unrats. You just need to time the drop correctly.

If I could change TU mines, it would be to disguise them as cargo crates.

TU mines being disguised as cargo crates would be really cool. +1 to that

Why does a weapon that already costs 500k per ammo require luck and skill to use correctly? Sure it's devastating, but it's offset by the high cost and low ammunition. People use it to get out of a tough spot. Getting pinned by unrats being one of them.

Sure, you can still use them a bit, but they are not worth the time right now.

As for disguising them as cargo, yeah. That would rule. You could easily hide them in a blob of cargo now, but it being a crate itself - even if it showed up on radar as a mine still - would add even more!
