Limited Time Skin Purchase
I know that Inc made a post about how Guild Software and Vendetta are in a good place right now but I feel this would be right to ask.
I want to preface by stating that I find it really refreshing that VO doesn't get slimy with livery and microtransactions. However, Guild Software are probably the only devs I can think of that I would ASK, to have some kind of limited time microtransaction for a skin, just to give some more money to the company. This might be similar to the vulture skin that was done at a point.

I really appreciate the thought. What do you mean, exactly, by "limited time"?
Like, you can only buy it for a limited time? Or like it's not a "durable" good and somehow wears out eventually? I'm assuming the former and not the latter, but there's a lot of odd stuff in the F2P space, so just checking.
In terms of time-limited goods, I've had an idea for a long time that we just haven't had the.. content to implement yet, that there would be something like.. maybe 52 different skins for a given ship, let's say as an example. Maybe if it were the EC-89.. then, when a newbie comes in, the week that they start playing, they're given the offer to buy that livery for a dollar, or some such, and if they don't.. well, they would have to wait a whole year for that livery to roll around again.
It could similarly be applied to other ships, a given livery is only for sale on a given week, that kind of thing. Maybe others are on more specialized schedules, or rarer intervals, etc.
I can't really do one-off stuff anymore. We did that with the "Anniversary Edition" Vulture and it was kind of a nightmare, plus carrying something forward and never-ever selling it again is.. both a technical and administrative hassle, with no monetization upside (we changed how textures and shaders worked a couple of times, not to mention a completely new Vulture, and I had to keep re-inventing what the "Anniversary Edition" meant).
So, anyway, I've been considering these kinds of things for a long time. I don't think they're particularly obnoxious, from a "F2P" standpoint, but they do require putting the time into generating all the livery content and the like, which we just haven't had a chance to do yet.

I haven't really been that interested in the skins offered so far. The cammo version hound or the Trident skin for instance.
But I'd pay money per ship type for a skin that gave me a flat black look. I choose the blackest of the palette for my ships and the only one it seems to look right on is the Vulture. The rest of them end up just grey.
