Add a small delay to even out load times.
Not because I have long load times, actually because of the opposite. So yeah, CSR aside, it has come to attention of myself and a few others that my load times are excellent. This could be for a number of reasons, primarily because I have a 10GBPS internet connection, but also because I know to keep my inventory clean.
Should I really get this much of an advantage?
Sure, a few others are also blessed with fine internet, and fine inventory management but I really feel that I have an unfair advantage when it comes to a few things, CSR being the least of my concerns, and it is more to do with the day to day running away from/chasing of other players. One solution to this would be to add a small delay to our load times (2 seconds? if you take longer than this to load, then yeah), across the board, regardless of how fast we load. Yes, load times have improved for all recently, and I'm sure this is cool, but I will never have the same load time as someone who lives next door to GS game servers, and someone across the pond or in Aus. or China is never going to have a load time as good as me.
After being chased around by another US citizen, and finding that I load sectors instant, but they take around 1.5 seconds, I think a good number to delay would be 2 seconds. Any longer than this and it may become a problem, but it should at least even the playing field when it comes to piracy(both directions) and racing.

+1
lol didn't see this until after posing my suggestion

They could add a shorter version of this to keep the seamless feel (like E:D and others do)

Oh, and I also wouldn't care if they choose to also reset the best race times to reflect this change. I think I will still do good with other optimizations to my course. Even my current time could be better, and I don't think 2 seconds a sector would stop me, just some well placed neutrons.

+1 as I have a slow computer lol
+1 I have a ssd and still arrive in sector after the person chasing me
Well I guess we will get to test how bad 2 seconds actually is on tonight's CSR! But I do kind of hope it works out OK so they can add it more generally. Until the Internet operates in sub-space or whatever will reduce bad connections I still think this is the only way to make the game fair when it comes to things like piracy.
Having a good connection should not enable me to escape even the most dedicated pirate, and someone having a sucky connection shouldn't mean he always gets caught!

Well, like I said in the newspost, we are still improving the system as a whole. Ideally, there's no actual delay for anyone. If it's possible to fly around in a single sector with acceptable combat latency, then it is also possible to transition between sectors with the same latency. It just requires clever pre-caching and server-side "hinting" of player movements, and other architectural optimizations, to make that work for people with more limited bandwidth.
Still, I hope it proves helpful in the CSR tonight as well.

Well that race seemed a lot more even to myself. Bqnzia and Honey kept up a lot closer for the first few systems, and it was not until I managed to get an early vector out of a system that I managed to push a bit of a lead.
Felt like if I made a single mistake I would have lost, and I was under pressure the entire race, instead of being 2 systems in front, so I'm going to put that down as a success. I do also think a perfect setup with the perfect cache and prediction system that load times could be eliminated for all would be best, but as of right now? I don't think the 2 second delay made the load times unbearable, but they did seem to even out the playing fields as far as "right now" goes.
