Okay...
the speed of light = 299,792,458 m/s
times 100,000
29,979,245,800,000 m/s
Proposed distance between sectors: 1,000,000,000,000
Time taken to travel at proposed speed to another sector:
1000000000000/29979245800000
Or approximately .033 seconds.
This all of course would destroy the pilot and ship almost instantly.
The black hole white hole theory is just that, a theory. Black holes are completely different from wormholes, black holes == doom, wormholes == friend.

Wormholes are pockets in the quantum foam that are linked together (quantum entanglement on the quantum level).
Actually flying trough a wormhole wouldn't turn you into mush, because the spaceship itself will continue flying at whatever speed it's flying, it's just the space around it warping in an insane way.
Edit: My 'ultimate' wormhole warp thingy would look like this:
Spaceship goes to wormhole
'activate'
The wormhole 'opens' and a really fluffin bright light comes out of the 'hole'. Then a 'tube' of 'fire' comes out and a 'tube' of 'blueglowystuff'. Then the ship gets sucked in (as in, it accelerates.) And the 'fire' and 'blueglowystuff' explodes. Then you get a really bright flash, like sector wide, and then it is closed (you don't see it, because you are blinded by the light.)
During this whole sequence the screen is shaking, asteroids shudder and some even fall appart, and you hear a chorus singing in the background.

sheean there is one thing you missed, fire needs oxegen and last time i checked there is no oxegen in space
The fire is just a metaphor for the exotic particles being released.
Ah, oxygen comes out of it; it would be a cool effect too.
Edit: the devs should atleast at the chorus (or sing it them self - heh), it's just that extra 'thing' that makes jumping into a wormhole look more... well... better. Or if they sing it them self, heh.. ah, nevermind.

/me buys album of the dev's latest songs
I like the wormholes as they are now, better than the giant blue ring things of "way back when."Aren't there screenies of some gate thing the devs had too?
Oh well. Physical Gates get too cluttered. Floating blinking things would be as close as you could get.

I loved the spheres!

Something I'm apparently not versed in is the physics element to this. Exactly what is the reasoning behind why, when I pass through one of these holes, the person, not 200m away doesn't get pulled in (or worse torn apart) by the force? Seems to me, the way it looks at least, that anything close by should be tugged along with me.
That being said, it would add an interesting element if persons had to be inline with a jumping ship or risk being ripped assunder, dumped in an unexpected area of space (mid-sector perhaps?), or even suffer power drain from the surrounding energy enviroment at that moment.

I knew I should have stayed away in Physics class...

I still think Cowboy Bebop style wormhole rings would've been cooler. Hmmmpfh!
lol Arolte
jeez no offense guys but this is starting to sound like a Star Trek convention.
I think the wormholes are fine the way they are, they are different from what i've seen in other games and they fit the game of vendetta just fine.

/me liked them better as big green thingies
