faction standings
NPC ships that fire in NFZ should be kos to that faction. for example, uit admired kennyb dent jumped in uit station sector. In uit nfz, valent fired, valent should be uit kos.
there would be chaos all over the universe, people would be hijacking faction capships and shooting other factions etc. you can already force factions to fire on themselves let alone others..
it would be awesome fun but it would get old pretty fast. im sure a few of us remember the day the "guide 1.0" panel was exposed for half the day. it would be like that day, except with steps. ;)

ScotiaKnight, I just want factions to follow the same rules imposed upon me.

very easily exploitable

Oh I understand completely what you want, but again this is wanting a change that directly effects you personally (being kos for actions you willingly took) and not looking at the bigger picture at hand.
It would wreck the universe as a whole. a player who is kos everywhere except uit for example, could have every single faction and corp kos in uit within an hour. there would be huge and sometimes endless battles all accross nation. it would be completely ridiculous and everyone would get caught up in the cross fire..
youd literally drag everyone down with you.

ok, where I am uit admired, they should not shoot at me. they should hold their trigger like I do with uit admired. I just lost another ship as uit admired in uit space from valent after I jumped into wh. The uit turrets should shred the valent capship or the valent capship should not fire at me.
yea, may be they should hold their fire. inter-faction fighting will definitely be abused though, just like the strike force was until players became liable for it.. and it still will be abused even though there are penalties.
the voys have become an equalizer.. for once pirates are having to take real risks. not just shooting down people that cant defend themselves, standing around in key locations.. and generally gaming the system. which is what i see going on most of the time.
there is still plenty of people whom none of this discourages. not everyone holds their fire, they pick and choose when it suits them. some just shoot always.
but yea, things are different and may be im being biased. i think that the normal everyday tkos/kos/hated behaviour doesnt work. people can abuse a location to death and just walk away from that location when the going gets tough, no big deal. they will also just in/out/in/out and have their non kos buddies do what they cant (like pick up dropped goods).. the strike force really isnt amazing or a deterrant. thats all changed now with voys hunting everywhere.
i dont know exactly where the middle ground is, but its always been heavily in the pirates favour.

Thanks scotiaknight. Having to run from valent cap ships and fighters even when unloading XCs at a UIT station as admired in NFZ is not what I think Inc intended.
+1 to faction npcs (generally) not shooting players in monitored/guarded space where they are admired or better, even if that player is KoS with that faction. Could be exceptions to this such as Corvus npcs, but they rarely go to nation space.
-1. Being a naughty boy shall be hard to RolePlay. If they shoot your XC, you deserved it, just get over it and buy a new one.
If it is too much for you, fix your standing and go back trading.

This is an interesting issue.
I am of the opinion that NPC of factions should have to abide by the same rules as players. But it does raise complex questions regarding AI group defense behavior. Under current behaviors, a single NPC NFZ violation could easily trigger a full on station battle.
I think that the group defense behavior should cease when a visiting faction enters a station sector. So if a stray NPC shot violates NFZ rules, the monitoring faction could attack that vessel without penalty from the rest of the visiting convoy. The visiting faction has an obvious economic incentive for avoiding hostilities.
I think also that it might make more sense for there to be variance in how certain factions behave in visiting factions (i.e. some will shoot hated/KOS of their faction and some won't). Maybe this also plays a role in how much a trade convoy escort mission pays due to increased risk.
Immersion/gameplay-wise it definitely seems lame that NPCs can skirt NFZ and monitored space rules.

+1 greenwall, agreed

I have fallen victim to this before and lost my goliath. I was very upset and felt cheated.. people with an occupation like mine in the game spend a lot of time keeping track of standing at certain factions. It is kinda crummy that NPCs don't follow these supposed "precious NFZ rules".
