new load/unload mechanic
I'm not sure if I said this before or has been mentioned, when the cap ship overstuffing glitch does eventually get patched, I suggest making a cap ship only mechanic where you can park next to the station in a specific spot and you get access to the station interface and you can load/unload materials from the ship and take missions. This should help with not making the goliath obsolete and make hauling tolerable.
+1 yes please
It's definitely going to be a drag to have to convert your 600cu into 400cu for the sake of having two xcs, or one xc and 300 cu you have to jettison.. if that future ever comes. When you really think about it.. you can do round trips twice as fast in an xc with most commodities, thus the goliath wont be much more useful for hauling than an xc aside from it being armed and having shields (Let's be honest goliath shields are barely shields), or carrying extremely heavy items. They will transport equal cu in about the same time. I feel where you are coming from.
More options wouldn't be a bad thing for goliaths from my point of view as a captain, but historically much of the pirate community frowns on anything that reduces risk; which leaves me on the fence understanding both points of view. An XC is certainly easier to kill while docking than a goliath would be, given in a couple clicks your cargo is in the station with the suggested feature. Perhaps some kind of cooldown/timer before your cargo is offloaded would passify people against it.. or a way to transport on/off the goliath into a station, so you can jettison your 600cu, board a ship and come out to get it. Sure that's also a means of 'escape', but the potential to lose your capship and still be 'trapped' in the station/sector would remain. Not really for or against it, but wanted to chime in with an opinion.
I have noticed changes since the last patch effecting goliaths cargo space, you can no longer undock from your ship that has maxed out cargo space to allow others to dock as gunners or to repair. Even though you are not in the ship you seem to count as cargo space used; unless I overlooked something. So with that said, I definitely would support some kind of ability when near stations (not docked) such as allowing /gunner invites to go through provided the gunner is in the station themselves.
There is a lot of traveling involved to bring them on board and if they disconnect for any number of reasons (such as the endless crashing, or having to logout for any reason even momentarily) they are returned to station of origin and you gotta go get them again. The pain is real.
