Ability to disable the flaming/smoking effect on ships when at low armor
Everyone knows about the flaming/smoking effect of ships when at low armor, and this is what I want to talk about.
I begun to practice PVP and I most often fight at 3rd person view, so when my ship is at low armor the smoke/flame effect becomes really annoying!
Everyone who likes to fight in 3rd person view knows how annoying its is while PVP when your ship is at low armor, and the ship is smoking and flaming. Why? Because its distracts the view of players, making their target very hard or impossible to hit in PVP, which annoys me and probably others as well.
Soo...
There should be an option to disable this effect, so it not distracts the view (I really got annoyed yesterday because of the effect distracting the view and I couldnt hit my target, so the fight took several minutes).

+1 for more toggles/options
when you're real low, the clouds certainly can minimize your viewing area. You could try changing the FOV so your ship is smaller, as a temporary fix, as long as you've got a relatively large monitor...

Does the 'fog blobs' option in the graphics (or is it video) section of the options menu have any effect?
Only for Ion storms. It has no effect on the ships fire/smoke effects.
You should be able to reduce the overall Effects Detail (I think it's in Options, Advanced, Graphics), and it will reduce or eventually remove the fire effects. It will impact other visual effects as well, so it isn't and ideal solution, but it could be a temporary workaround.
Basically, turn it down in advance of fighting 3rd-person PvP, turn it back up later, if desired.

I turned the effect down as much as I could, the effect still does appear, but only when at really low armor.
In PvE its okay, because I usually try to not go to very low armor, and with distance control I can see my target. In PvP however its still can be distracting, because it usually happens at a very close range, and sometimes I dont see the shots fired by my target.
I hope there will be an option in the future to completely disable this effect.

frankly, i've never found this effect to be a problem during PvP
