Only one magic system per nation

there is no need for any nation, including uit, to have two magic systems with magic shields. Remove arta from the magic uit shield list. And if other nations have two, reduce it to one. New players could find a guild soon enough.

Ok I'm genuinely confused on what a magic system. You mean training sectors? What are you trying to say?

the whole dau system and arta system uit cannot harm uit. that needs to end. No more socialism! Atleast end it in arta and then eventually dau.

okay, its magic. so what? explain how this change benefits gameplay from majority perspective - you'd be removing what protects most new pilots from shooting themselves in the foot, as well as some protection from pirates and griefers that new pilots aren't ready to tackle.

take a lesson from YT - if you want to pirate in capitol systems, take the time and push the effort to do it right and within the bounds of the existing "magic" that most others would define as relatively fair gameplay.

Honestly I can name a lot of 'magic' now that I know what he's referring to I think this would hurt the new player experience.

There is an example where a lot of vets did just attack the training sector and kept killing newbies.

So what Luxen says is pretty much correct! This suggestion will just help pirates who want to kill newbies more. If you want to pirate in these sectors by all means grab a hound have fun. I think the magic is quite fair. Great pirates will play around this fact anyways.

I also don't know hos socialism has to do with a gameplay mechanic in a space game :/

Maybe it would be enough to cancel the "spell" when the target's licenses exceed a certain level?

Just tank your UIT standing and then there is no magic protection.

First, let’s at least end the magic in arta. That’s fair.

This isn't some random choice. There are systems where newbies get started. UIT has Arta and Dau, the Itani have Eo and Divinia, the Serco have Sol and Pyronis.

Each one of those has sectors dedicated to newbies starting for the first time, and the related system is basically treated as a "much more heavily protected" area for the benefit of newbies. We did disable the protections in these systems before, but then re-instantiated friendly-fire limits later, due to problems with people excessively hunting newbies.

I'm not going to protect some of the newbies, and not the others who were un-lucky enough to randomly spawn in a different system. I also need more than one "starting" system per-nation, to be able to spread out larger spikes of new players.

I'm not against changing the defenses and parameters of newbie sectors at some point; but not the way being described here, because the actual reason why it exists is clearly not understood, and the resulting "idea" is flawed.

Well newbies are not protected - it's easy to infiltrate as a foreign nation player anyway. The 'magic' systems don't stop it - but it may be that they make it harder.

Kenny Bireta has posted this undoubtedly because he is hunting in UIT space. Honestly Kenny, I have a solution for you mate - don't be UIT - hunt the UIT all you want. Then you won't care about 'magic' systems.

Yes, it mitigated a specific situation. I'm aware the newbie protection needs improvement. But I'm not removing existing aspects of it, until other improvements arrive.

TheRedSpy... I'm actually posting this to make things more exciting. Making faction standing easier to rep would do that, too. The hours of botting after kos makes it not worth doing this. Not all of us want a level up a bunch of alts.
Oct 30, 2020 incarnate link
"Exciting" for whom? Hunting newbies is never going to be considered something that we want, it drives new people away from the game.

i'm actually a very fair businessman and negotiate arrangements that benefit all parties. Newbies want excitement. When three of them were talking about teaming up against me and shooting me, I told them I had a dau sheild hack on my hound in dau. One of them threatened to report me and I dared them too :) I actually think it would have been fun if the three of them could have shot at me.

I don't know what the solution is. But, all I asked was to eliminate arta from the protection, not eliminate all of Dau. Letting KOS dock at admired stations (like tpg) in these systems would be nice. I guess I just don't understand why there are two in each system. But, I don't need an explanation. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to future development.

I'm sorry but this post is just hilarious. TGFT actually has a pirate member now that overtly wants to kill new players in nation space. It's gold!

For god sake Kenny just make an Itani alt and kill them.

I think the more discouragement that players have to play UIT the better - the population imbalance is quite annoying.

TRS, Kenny is now a member of FAMY.

"I guess I just don't understand why there are two in each system."

Incarnate already answered that. When a new player starts the game, he doesn't want them to always begin in the main capital since that could result in crowding. Instead, he wants them to randomly spawn in either of their nation's capital systems. That means all safety measures enjoyed by the main capital need to apply to the secondary capital as well so that the newbies who spawn there aren't given the short end of the stick.
