Capitol ship primary weaponry.

I've had some ideas for weapons intended for use as the primary weapon on a capitol ship, but I've run into a problem developing these ideas into implementable suggestions.

The main issue is that the Trident and Goliath have a large port, which smaller ships also have.

I think the ideal solution would be some kind of "Capitol Weaponry port". However, I worry that doing that would be Dev-time intensive. Maybe not, I just do not know. I see two other possible solutions at the moment.

A second possible idea I have, would be to double the grid power of the Goliath and Trident power-cells, and then simply double the grid usage of the capitol turret weapons, resulting in no net change in what load outs are currently possible with capitol turrets. This would allow for the creation of weapons intended for use by capitol ships without making their grid usage onerous for capitol ships. A weapon with a grid usage of then 25 for instance would still be capitol only, but would be only half that of a capitol Gauss cannon. I suspect this would be the easiest for the Incarnate to do.

A third idea that comes to mind is to create larger higher grid, higher capacity power-cells. This would have the advantage of giving users the option to choose between faster charging for jumping (pursuit/evasion) or heavier weapons loading (heavy combat as a main line warship, maybe giant mining beam turrets)

I like 2 and 3, a combination of them would result in some really interesting scenarios.

Maybe there could be cells that give specific buffs? Less grid, but increased shields/regen/charging etc. A bit off the OP but it would be fun.

Yeah it's frustrating that the only weapons introduced for capital ships have been turrets, but the turret control system has never been rethought beyond the original "gunner position" idea. I honestly don't think that the "gunner position" will ever be widely used in VO, even if the "floodgates" get turned on and we have lots of players. It's a proven bad idea that should stop being relied upon.

This suggestion seems aimed at developing a platform on which new weapons can be drummed up, which is a great idea.
