Capship drop
Wouldn't it be cool if you were flying through a random NPC infested sector in the new system and you stumbled upon an abandoned UIT/Serco/Itani goli or dent that you could dock with only to find all the inhabitants dead and it was yours to take back to your home nation. Returning it gets you a massive reward or you could keep it until it gets destroyed. Of course you have to get it out of the unnamed system in one piece first. It would be kind of like winning the lottery in VO terms so might only happen once a month or so. That would actually make it worthwhile visiting and exploring the new system.
+1 This would be the perfect chance for newbs to get a lot of credits, and try flying golis
+1, but I feel the ability to pilot it should require higher licenses, something like combat 6-7.
There should also be some danger involved with keeping it, or someone could just fly it deep into nation space and keep it in safety. Maybe a timer after which the ship starts malfunctioning? Or maybe it could only be flown in grey space.

I'd be okay with the hulk being non-flyable and you have to destroy it and salvage a few major parts (EHA and an Engine; or a Reactor and a MCA; plus a few FCP/FFSA). Maybe destroyed it drops some cool cargo, things that are bulky and require a moth, creating a challenge to get out of the system.

I like that idea too ! Getting a 200cu reactor out in a moth would be a formidable challenge and require assistance.
I guess even if the goli was flyable then having defective shields could add to the challenge factor.

This could be neat, especially if it is irreplaceable (no insurance like player builds). It could also be crippled in other ways like mentioned above... damaged shields, damaged guns, damaged cargo bay...etc
