is samoflange an ore?
I don't think it is. I think it's more of a structural component.
Of course, you could replace the asteroid with a chunk of Leviathan wreckage or embed such a chunk into an asteroid, and then it would make sense.

Yeah, I don't think Incarnate's new mineral for the unexplored territory should be samo (A conversation during the update revealed he had been planning a new mineral, after all, and I wonder if its related to the new weapon?), but I do like the idea of the possibility of a leviathan hulk that you have to break down and mine for a long time period in order to retrieve units of samo, or potentially something else unique to the new system.
Instead of just being guarded by a convoy of bots, perhaps it should be only lightly guarded at first, but as the breakdown process commences, more and more waves of bots come in with a curved difficulty rating?

Poor pyronic... so rare but so unused and now forgotten in light of incoming content.
Just get the samo from a levi? It's drop rates are pretty good.
As for a random asteroid, there are probably tens of thousands of them in the new system, realistically you could do all 3 levis and get a couple of samo before you would find this asteroid. It'd have to be worth more for all the prospecting you would need to do.
EDIT : With a plugin like targettools, someone who has prospected all the roids earlier would have an advantage as they could probably narrow down the location for this asteroid by only looking for a roid in sector who's data they don't have.

Don't think of it as a practical means of collecting samo. Think of it as a rare and happy surprise for whoever happens to stumble into it.

Yes hydra is easy, but you can only get one samo, one time.
