Trident Turret Automation

Had some super fun battles with Tridents, Goliaths and whatnot yesterday in b8. I was incredibly impressed with how effective the plugins utilized by some players to control their turrets with "helper" accounts, namely:

The ability to pilot the capitol ship, fire it's main weapon, and simultaneously have a PCB turret trained on another capital ship whilst firing off capital swarms at other targets flying around.

Such automation takes the Trident up to an entirely new level of strategic dominance.

So to those who had the ingenuity to create and master those lua plugins, I give genuine kudos to!

BUT....

These plugins afford their users a MASSIVE advantage in battle over non-users. I've long held the widely-shared opinion that super-helpful, game improving plugins should be endeavored for integration for everyone, and not just the "lua literate", and not just exclusive groups of people.

So I renew the call for turret automation, which if I recall correctly, had some support from Incarnate to some degree.

I personally don't have a problem if this is a paid premium either. My understanding is that several people who use the current plugin system employ four additional paid accounts -- an obvious benefit to the company that I wouldn't want to take away.

A paid premium for turret automation is an interesting idea. It might encourage more large ship action. If we had this for Tridents and Golis, I could imagine a guild might want to assemble a gunnery squad of individual players that would be superior to the AI.

A paid feature that gives advantage? Sorry, that smells too much like the start of pay2win.

But regarding turret automation, yes that would be good to have int he game itself.

Flying a ship around yourself is a far more superior and preferred experience than manning a turret. Lets not kid ourselves that any guild is going to get 4 willing participants to man each turret instead of flying their own ships in any Trident battle engagement, save the occasional curiosity cruise.

I second (third? fourth?) the call for turret automation.

Or, let me hire bots for in-game credits? Like mercenaries or furies that man my turrets?

Anyway +1 to turret automation.

For those that decry turret bots, go read this forum post and get over it.

I hear you about the pay to win. It's already sort of happening with multiple accounts, so I was thinking of making an AI crew more reachable to all. The AI would be inferior to human gunners, and I would enjoy gunning down an AI crew.
