Sector scan
Lately something broke Cargolist a plugin that it's been in my plugins folder since forever. I know well that plugins aren't officially supported and those kind of plugins are quite heavy on the game performance while scanning the sector. I was thinking about having those functions integrated into the VO client. Maybe something like the "sector list" listing the "crates" within a limited distance from my ship position.
Sounds like it would be useful to me. I would bet if it were built in, the devs implementation would be much more efficient too.
So, it shows all floating cargo crates within some distance?
What else? Does it show the crate class or contents? Is the output a table that's sortable on different parameters?
I will caveat that I would like crates to be more difficult to discover than just "range", at some point. To where an actual visibility check may be needed, allowing people to actually "hide" or "stash" certain stuff.
But, there is some middle ground that could help with more open scenarios, like battle aftermath scenes, etc.

yes, everything that can be "loaded in space" should be showed (in a limited range).
listing the class and quantity would be nice, but the ability of sort that table per distance/class/cu vould be top.
"battle aftermath scenes" (mostly PVE) is exactly were i miss those function the most.

Cargolist currently operates by opening a UI window with every cargo crate in range listed by content alphabetically. You have to click "Scan" and it iterates through every cargo item (maybe every item?) in the sector to populate the list. It can be sorted alphabetically, reverse alphabetically, from furthest to closest, or from closest to furthest. It shows the contents and quantity in the crate and the distance from you, for each item in the list, and scrolls with a scrollbar or mousewheel input. Clicking an item in the list targets it.
"Clicking an item in the list targets it"
this is crucial (and I managed to forget to list it) sorry.
