Occlusion Detection Please
This has been said time and time again, but it is the sole limitation of the engine in my eyes. We need occlusion detection for radar and weapons. Basically, radar shouldn't see through solid objects and explosions should not go through things. I see no reason why a rocket can shoot through several meters of asteroid. This would add tons of tactics, like hiding behind roids from radar and hiding on the other side of just about anything. It shouldn't even be that hard to impliment, with radar detection taking place from the ship and explosion detection taking place at the site of explosion. So... please?
Well, one problem is that if it isn't implemented on the server, people can write "wall hacks" that allow them to see through everything. And if it is implemented on the server, then they need a much more powerful processor to handle all the vector calculations.
But the devs are probably just too busy with everything else. I would love to see this addition, as well.

The wall hacks can probably be prevented, since the devs wrote this code with stopping hacks in mind. And if it needs to be sever side, well, they ARE getting a new server...
The reason the code is hack-resistant is that much of the work is done server-side. Since they are still building the engine, NOTHING is easy to implement. It all has to be done from the ground up and linked to existing modules in a logical fashion. That said, of course they plan to include "occlusion detection" in the future. They've said as much before. They are building the engine in a logical fashion that has little to do with how long ago or how many times a request was made. Give them a little credit for knowing what they are doing. All things in their own time.
