Make a Goliath Mining Variant

There are so many good roids sectors that are always occupied by nasty hive guardian bots and the like.
I have tried using the miner moth and it's turret, but it is pretty much a sitting duck to the more maneuverable bots. You can not effectively sit next to an asteroid like you need to in order to mine.
I have also tried taking combat guild mates with me to watch my back or sit in the turret, it never works out and ends in the slow moving miner moths destruction.

I am suggesting a Goli Variant that has a few (3?) Large ports that only Mining Beams can be attached to and a small port that only a scanner or a mining beam can be attached to.
This could either be a Goliath that you have to build from scratch or else an option in the mission to rebuild any Goliath after it's destruction.

I just seems to me that so many mining opportunities are going to waste with soo many roids that we can't get at.

You would still have to man the turrets as Guardian bots can deshield a Goliath once enough of them start firing together.

+1 to 2 LP , 1 SP goliath with no turrets. No docking port. No restrictions on what can be equipped. (basically an oversized Miner Moth I with shields). Allow it be built as a separate capital ship, so pilots can have upwards of three capital ships on an alt.

Sounds like an interesting opportunity to diversify the Goliath into different versions.

I suggest a Goliath gunship (combat) variant for capship warfare or support in fighter engagements.

Shields: 36.000
Cargo: 400 cu
Ports: 2 large ports, 3 turret ports
Mass: 2.500.000 kg
Thrust: 15.000N
Turbo Thrust: 900N
Max speed: 40 m/s
Spin Torque: 6.000N
Turbo Speed: 140 m/s
Turbo Energy: 45/s

Open to whatever suggestions, I only modified armor, cargo, shields, mass and port stats. Didn't change engine related stats because I'm not sure if this should be a different capship to be manufactured (maybe it could require another engine part to make it faster) or if it should just be a different mission available for those who already manufactured the goliath.

+1 to Roflor's idea. -1 to a combat goliath. I see the goliath as a light/medium transport ship and its smallish boxish shape fits perfectly as a mining ship. But instead of 2L and 1S make it 2L only and have a built in scanner. Making it equip only beams also prevents it from being a hunter as 2 mega positrons with near infinite fire can drop shields pretty fast.

+1 to mining Goliath or any other specialised ships there are not enough Special ships

Give it crazy licences say 15/15/15/18/18 or basic miner 4 so we dont get everyone flying em

+1 to reutilization of existing game assets (ships) and added specialization.

I think I said this in another thread...

Variant types based on specialization with performance vs. Functionality tradeoffs.

Give us some new content that isn't too burdensome on dev time.

However are we deciding we're still bringing combat allies?
LP's mining only, (And no one has said "no" to "We all float's" 'No Turrets') without turrets, so bots can still dsh us fast. Without our defending ourselves might I add.

2LP's, built in scanner, but add 1 turret (Minimum) for defense.

If yer making a dedicated mining goli then drop 3 of the docking spaces and boost the cargo capacity to 1000

+1 rolflor and 15 or a 20 minimum on licenses. Make it take dedication but its available at stations..
