Mark questionable pilots on radar as orange instead of red
based on this post in the bugs forum
To indicate a difference between targets that autofire would work on and those it wouldnt - as a state of caution versus known aggression - mark "cautionary" targets as orange, while those who have attacked the pilot [or are hive/unrat NPCs] are marked in the traditional red. /designateenemy should place targets in the aggro category.

Yeah, I've long considered various approaches to this, like moving to more of a "stop-light" type system, green/yellow/red, etc.
But, there are underlying aspects of meaningfully defining and storing someone's probability of being an enemy that always seemed like they really needed more work, before such a system would provide much advantage.
Perhaps you're right though. Maybe it's "useful enough" to just show recent-attackers, known-aggro bots, and specifically player-designated enemies.
I'm not sure about the "orange" thing, I think color differentiation on, say, mobile devices may not be trivial, I would go for more of the yellow option (and move homing missiles to some other color).
This was also part of my goal with the whole "coloration box" that we're testing on Windows, as well, to improve the IFF overall, and then be able to display it a bit more obviously, as opposed to just radar or "choosing to select" someone.

could do shapes instead of colours
